Good come from behind win by North yesterday.
Pity I left at half time!

Waikerie had Griffiths and Liebich out.

Apparently Berri have told Central that he is a required contracted player and being the centenary year he will be playing important games for Berri, including finals. Selfish really, but what would you expect from Berri. Go the Doggies!!!

Watch out for Loxton North. Could cause a few more upsets as the season continues.

Waikerie had some terrible free kicks go their way as did Loxton North, about even I reckon
The holding the ball rule seems to be very confusing.

On another matter, Berri junior Callum Trifonoff is playing his 100th unofficial game this weekend.
He has counted himself since 2004. Should juniors count their games or should the club be responsible
for recording games?

I think that you will find from now on information entered into the Sporting pulse website will keep track of all those stats that some old bloke from the club used to keep in a rat eaten box under his back verandah. I assume information for previous seasons will be available when we get that far. Must be a friggin big system.

BERRI SELFISH
I think Sutherland need to get his act together.
Broke his contract with Kaniva
Now contracted with Berri
I would think Berri paid for the sign on see he got from Kaniva
Now Centrals.
No problem with someone trying to better themselves but see you current commitments through first.

agree CP, centrals had every opportunity to recruit pre season and if Sutherland had thoughts of rekindling a SANFL career ge shouldnt have signed on with Berri.

He is 21 years old and obviously Centrals have had the oppurtunity to see something in him. I have seen him play and if he stays at Berri isnt going to better himself. He is lazy. He needs to be in a semi professional enviroment where he will push himself. Who knows he may even get a SANFL premiership and still young enough to forge a career and if Berri isnt selfish they will give him their full support. Maybe they shouldnt have have opened the cheque book so hard to get him. Its another year of football after all, centenary year , who cares!! Oppurtunity for a young bloke, back him in. He may even become the next Michael Barlow, good luck Pumpa, hopefully the SANFL sees a lot more of you and you can kiss the RFL good bye!!!

I'll second that.
A lot of peoples time and effort went into getting that lad to Berri. I think they have been more than supportive so far.

Have a feeling Footy Fan that you might have had very little to do with running a footy club after reading your exceptionally naive post. I'm not a Berri Fan but for anyone to suggest that they should be pushing him all the way and getting excited for his future, without any form of compensation, at the very least, is looking at this from a very one sided point of view.

I have a feeling Footy fan should see if he can get one of the old valiants he has in the front yard going, borrow a packet of smokes from his 8 yo sister and take a drive out to the regional areas to see what country footy is all about.

Obviously im a Central fan so take that on board when reading my point of view.

Sutherland has what could be a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to play in an SANFL premiership, if he does get the all clear to stay at the Dogs he will almost definatly have the chance to play SANFL finals the second biggest stage in SA Footy.

Not only that come finals time there will no doubt be AFL scouts attending these matches, with 2 new afl teams coming into the comp there is big oppurtunities for 200cm 21 year olds.

Now imagine if he was to win a premiership with Central or get drafted to the AFL the publicity the Berri FC would get would be incredible and invaluable. They would have a great reputation amongst players leaving the SANFL.

Now if these two clubs can sort a deal there is endless benefits outside this year, Central do have a fair few players who will be retiring/leaving the club at the end of the year, there is no reason these players can't be directed / encouraged to check out the Berri FC. The Gowans will be retiring in a year or two whose to say they couldn't do a guest appearance out at Berri, imagine the crowd that would draw.

I have no doubt Berri deserve to be compensated whether that be financially or by other means, having players who are left out of there reserves going to play up there etc etc. There is no denying this will effect Berri for this season but the beneifts for the long term COULD be endless.

One thing that is guareenteed is that words spreads and no doubt if Sutherland is denied the chance to play at a higher level other players will hear this. If they still hold hopes of playing SANFL theres a high chance when Berri coming knocking they won't answer.

These are only my views to a player going to a HIGHER level of the sport.

I'm sure a replacement ruckman may suffice. Having said that, we are awfully close to the 30 June deadline though, so realistically, we may end up with nothing. Monetary compensation isn't the issue here. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we may lose a quality ruckman and not have the option of picking up someone to replace him, given this has all happened so close to the clearance deadline.
