Nothing can or will ever make them the real Port formed in the 1800s. It's just a simple fact.

Dont think its a fact, just your opinion.
Interesting to think what is it that actually defines a footy club?
And using this line of thinking which is the real Port Adelaide, or are they both the real Port Adelaide. Pretty sure the majority of people will define a footy club in this instance to suit their argument rather than the other way round.
IMO we're both clubs and always will be....andto anyone who doesnt!

Ahem ... in legal terms I suspect that Port Magpies is the new entity and the 1870 Port Adelaide entity entered the AFL.

The Port Adelaide Football Club changed their name late in 1996 to the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club. The Power took on the old name and registered a completely new business to attach this too. Simarly to the way the VFL changed their name to the AFL despite being the same competition and simiarly to the way that the Adelaide Football Club in 2010 isn't the same Adelaide Football Club in the last 1800s. Its all very simple for anyone with half a brain. All facts, no opinions. I've seen the relevent documents, I would hazard to guess those who on this thread say otherwise haven't or choose to ignore it if they have.
I will however admit it is purely an opinion that a 2nd composite side would be doing a hell of a lot better though for this state though, I'll admit that but I have a better idea than most when it comes to these things. They'd be making more money, have more success, have more members and have a hell of a lot more people at games IMHO.

On another thread, which I can't find at the moment, someone pointed out that the Magpies still have the original registration number, and have just had a name change attached to it.dedja wrote:Ahem ... in legal terms I suspect that Port Magpies is the new entity and the 1870 Port Adelaide entity entered the AFL.White Line Fever wrote:Unless it was a merger of some sort, whereas Port Adelaide Magpies would have folded, they cannot justify claiming a link to the PAFC.
