No excuses, not bad umpiring, not Strut playing better, just Norwood playing extremely poorly!

And what a poor excuse for a League venue! At least we didn't step in any doggie doo-doo or get stuck by discarded needles! Please move back to Adelaide Oval.

Actually there was a fair bit to like about Sturt's game today, apart from the last quarter. Not smooth, but better in many respects.
But of course you can be relied on to trot out the familiar line, that Norwood are just terrible whenever they lose.
There must be something obscuring your glasses felcher, some milky substance.

Fester, you are full of crap and vitriol. And note that i still have the regard to call you Fester.

To NFC, mate, the way you've written it is just a sprawling grizzle at the venue. Most of the time I am class, but I do have my down falls.

I had a good seat today and then these idiots (Norwood supporters, although you wouldn't be able to tell) unfolded their chairs and sat right almost directly in front, blocking out half my view of the oval. Seriously, I know this might sound childish, but I was there first, if you rock up AFTER the game starts, you do not have the right to sit in front and block my freaken view.

Shocking day at the footy.

Unley oval IS a disgrace and should not be used. Sturt should go back to Adelaide oval

No thanks. No heart and soul there. There's no coincidence that we've come good after going back to Unley. If other supporters hate it, GOOD! We don't want you to like it.
You think most people besides Central supporters like going to the Ponderosa desert to watch games. **** no and I bet you that's the way Central supporters like it.

Fair call I guess, i'm no longer a massive fan of the SANFL and certainly wouldn't go to Unley to watch a game

I could only go for the first half today and with my young lad in tow I didn't get to see a great deal of the footy, but I do recall this one you've mentioned and being a bit non-plussed about .. To be fair I also saw Sturt get a free-kick in the first quarter which was played to advantage (very little advantage) and only resulted in a point for them.

Said to my mate at halftime, as peeved as we'd been about some decisions it's hard to expect much when Sturt keep beating us to the ball, and therein lies the secret, get to the ball first and you'll receive the majority of spoils.

I have one real beef with Unley Oval - There's only 1 see-saw at the playground ;)

Well done Sturt, not a big fan of your mob but certainly respect you and you were far too good today on the bit of footy I witnessed.

I have highlighted the first part of your post because it's that part that I most take issue with but in truth I take issue with the whole kit and kaboodle.

Firstly, the club budgets/estimates for crowds based on attendances from the previous two or three seasons. Given that, the club estimated a crowd of approximately 4,000 based on the last three Sturt v Norwood games which had turn outs of between 2,500 & 4,000.

The official crowd figure for today's game was a tick over 5,000 but in truth anyone who knows their Unley Oval crowds will tell you there were well and truly 5,500-6,000 there today. The question is, why were there that many? Because plain and simple the travelling support was extraordinary. The second question is, why was the travelling support so remarkable? Because Norwood were on a six game winning streak and the Redleg supporter base are one of the biggest mob of front running bandwagon jumpers you are ever likely to see. If I had a dollar for every brand new red and blue cap or scarf I saw today I'd be dining at a top Adelaide restaurant right now instead of chewing on a pizza responding to neanderthals like you.

Of course, The Parade never runs out of food or beverage does it? And the NFC generally know what crowd number to expect on a Friday night because they've been consistently getting similar numbers for years!!

Seriously, suck it up and get in the real world buddy.

Go the mighty Blues.

Hope you've been on the cans for a day to write such a stupid post ... All clubs attendances increase when they perform and similarly they all lower when playing a poor excuse for what we call football, how were your crowds when you were serving up spoon after spoon?

The Parade has run out of food and drink plenty of times in the last 5 years and copped it BIGTIME from both our own supporters and visitors .. Dont let facts stand in the way of a good story though.

Our bbq and beer van had plenty to cater for the masses even though it was a bigger crowd than expected. Wendy's and the other hot dog vendor, both not run by the footy club are the one's that ran out.
Agree with you about bandwaggoners though, every club has them, just some more than others.

why didn't some of you think it wasn't going to get to a crowd like that?, there was basically nothing else on (yes noarlunga & strath trots & dogs) but nothing in the near city location, so with an inform norwood playing an out of form powerhouse sturt with their backs to the wall at unley i thought a 5,000 crowd figure was a near certainty presuming the weather was good

60,000 people at the Sea and Vines festival in the south might be the answer you're looking for.

Where do I start with this gem?

Every single sporting club IN THE ENTIRE WOLRD, even yours, has bandwagon fans. Your club is no different. I’ve missed maybe 5 games in the past 10 years, so I don’t really like the fact people jump on when the going is good but that’s their choice, they can do what they want, at least it gives money to the local competition.

Sunday afternoon, pretty decent weather, no Crows or Port, Norwood 6 on the trot, of course there was going to be a big crowd there today. But for 2 of your food outlets to have run out of what they’re there for to be all gone by HALF TIME, is really poor.

But hey, blame the incompetency due to the fact we’ve got some bandwagoners, that’ll get the issue resolved.

I didn't have a problem with your catering mate (they had the snags cranking the whole time I was there), and just because one person did I thought MST's response was a bit OTT.

Our club eventually handed the reigns over to the Encore group for managing Norwood Oval catering and it's one of the best things they ever did, because we would have had problems on a weekly basis before then.

Didn't want to sound like I was having a crack, just thought I would state it as you mentioned Norwood Oval running out of goods. Personally, I haven't had a problem at any ground for a long time. Last time I remember was at Norwood when I was sold a can that was 6 months out of date and had rust forming on the bottom  .
Worked out well though as I returned it and got 2 free bourbons for my trouble 8)

No all good mate, sensible discussion .. You must have won the raffle can that night ;)

Personally I've never understood the fascination surrounding food catering at the footy .. For sure if I couldn't get a beer somewhere I'd be annoyed, but I don't plan my eating around the footy and if I'm hungry enough I'll eat just about anything* if it's better than going hungry.

C'mon CP, I lined up for a good 15 minutes and only to be told they had run out. I would've thought a lot of people were lining up for the same reason as I, couldn't they have informed people at the least?

I normally just get some chips or a pie or something, no big deal, but to go to two separate places and both be completely out, that's pretty poor. By the end I couldn't be stuffed so I just went hungry.
