Rik E Boy wrote:Has anyone noticed a drop in Warne's effectiveness in this series? Quite righthly he has been praised for his second innings effort in Adelaide but Warney has racked up three centuries now and just maybe he's had a gutful. The major motivational force of regaing the Ashes is now absent and a milestone at home and Test farewell at the ground where he made his debut would be most enticing for the champion legspinner.
In all this a lot of people have overlooked Pidge, who actually has a better average than Warne and has more test wickets than any fast bowler. You won't be able to replace the 1200 odd wickets but the door will open for others. The next gen Australia team starts soon and it will be interesting to see which, if any nations can knock us off our perch.
But then again, maybe Hawk is right and Warney is just giving the Poms (and Stewie Magill) the big wind up.

The patient was well on the way to recovery by the time the early 90's arrived and the arrival of Warne and McGrath was the icing on the cake.

The greatest cricketer that I have ever seen and probably will ever see.
You can kiss the record for the largest attendance at a Test Match goodbye India, Melbourne will break that, should the game go the full five days.

My Dad used to go on about cricketers from before I was born, but it was "history". I couldn't watch it live, couldn't experience it.
And this will be the same!
Unbelievable cricketer. This morning I was getting ready for work and Ms Diss was wondering why I was moping around. I was depressed

good point Diss - Ive always had a cricketing history seeing I was born at Memorial Hospital during the Adelaide test match that Dennis Lillie made his debut in...Dad was over watching the cricket while mum was in labour!
glad I now took my 3yo to training before the test and watched Warnie roll a few over from about 3 metres away...while he is unlikely to remember it Im sure one day he will ask "How good was that SK Warne Dad?"...

Perhaps Martyn and Warne had wind of such thoughts.
Perhaps Warne and Martyn are happy for others to be the "old heads" in the team.I think now Hayden and Langer will go on,where as previously I thought they may only go until next summer, form permitting.
