Re: Things that make you laugh
I'd be happy with 10 grand
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

He could use it to come down and watch Port play Geelong.

Re: Things that make you laugh
I'm with LM on this one, no way I'm quitting work if I won $1m.
Perhaps you guys already have heaps squirrelled away!
What do you think you'll need to spend to be able to live what you consider to be a comfortable lifestyle?
$120,000 a year? Holidays are expensive and without a 9 to 5, you've got a lot of free time to fill in.
I plan on living another 55ish years.
In 55 years time, that $120k now needs to be $470k to maintain the same purchasing power (assuming 2.5% inflation rate).
So how much money do you need to invest now, at an earnings rate of say 5% to maintain the ability to spend the equivalent of $120k in todays dollars for each of the next 55 years? $3,500,000
(NB: this excludes tax considerations, so essentially we are talking $120k per tax yearly income)
Now if you want to buy a new house or other big ticket items in the first year or two, add that on top of the $3.5m you need.
Add in the fact I'll get sucked in by a gold digger or two who cuts the pile in half each time, I recon I need upwards of $15m before I can walk from work.
Even if I won that, I wouldn't quit the next morning. I'd still go into work every second day and run down the 60-ish sick days I've got saved up! haha

$5m and I wouldn't work again.
Under that and I'd have to buy into a business to keep me busy during the day.

There's always a bit of a joke going on when we do a syndicate on how everyone will retire if we won, I get scoffed at when I tell them that I'll still come to work if we win, how much of a win is the cut off between paying everything off and living comfortably or actually quitting?
Anything under $2M would see me continue to work in my current job.
Agreed, $2m would change yours and your kids lives but you'll still be working.
I'd buy a pub and a brothal, with happy hours in both.
That'd keep me busy

Hope the happy hours aren’t at the same time as I can’t be in 2 places at once.

Re: Things that make you laugh
See, I'd probs be happy with a million.
I'd sell up here and buy something modern but modest in a little country town and possibly be happy working a couple of days per week, just to pay bills bills because I won't have a mortgage.
With most of the money in investment, it'll still allow me the option to go on holidays and not have to live on baked beans.
Each to their own though.

This site would provide a load of funds, and probably a wad of serious cash, but he'll need a good acc*ntant to enure his ballance sheet remains in the pink.
