Players are basically on a Base Wage then get Match Payments on top of that. All contracts have an "injury clause" written which may pay the players 50% (for example) of their Match Payment.

So whilst these 3 guys will still get paid for playing this weekend in the SANFL, it will not be to the same level as an AFL game as they will not receive the "AFL Match Payment".

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers for that mate, makes perfect sense.

Your top 2-3 players in each club will have a flat contract with no match payments

Those blokes would be expected to play every game though, so their contract basically has match payments built in to it.

True but like i said surely Andy Otten would be earning some form of money this year. He won't play a game due to injury but there is no way he could be getting $0 for the whole season.

Goodwin was hardly convincing on AA tonight either.

Gets better and better for the Crows.

I didnt hear him mate, but to be fair, he was a last minute call up on there , wasnt he ? Patty Dangerfield was suppose to be the guest, but obviously the club didnt want him on there answering questions about it.

Not sure how what the skipper says has any bearing on things now anyway. They have been suspended, obviously they got on the gas. They didnt kill anyone though...or ride naked in a lift... ;)

We had a debate about the credibility of our leader (Judd) when the Blues were 'off the rails' in the pre-season. I'd like to know what she thinks of Goodwin as a leader.

Seriously though, Matty must need his head read. WTF's he doing? Vince and JCock should know better.

More details revealed by the club:

Johncock, who has an AC joint sprain, missed a rehab session, while Vince and Jaensch stayed out too late after the Crows' loss to North Melbourne on Saturday.

Not much in it, but perhaps an indication of a lazy attitude around the club, hence the suspensions were handed out to send a message to the playing group to smarten up.

Bernie Vince came out with the usual apology,i have let myself, family, the club and supporters down and i will have to work hard to regain everyones trust.Just the same usual rubbish, also the Crows to state these three players careers are on notice, what aload of crap.Clubs are very rarely fair dinkum when it comes to sacking a player, and it usually occurs when a player has constantly caused trouble, look at Carlton with Fevola certain players are protected.

Clubs are damned if they do, damned if they dont !!! You people are never happy. The 3 blokes broke a team rule, they have been dealt with. IMO, its one of the few positive actions by the club this year. They could have easily swept this under the carpet, and no-one would have been the wiser.

People have been calling for Burton's and Edward's head for weeks, as they werent performing on the field. Some people even called for their careers to be ended. Now, we have 3 guys who blatently did the wrong thing by their team mates, and we are upset by a one game suspension. Guys like McLeod, Burton, Edwards, Goodwin and Doughty have set an example by the way they prepare each week, thats why they are still playing at their age.

I heard someone mention on another thread about double standards - AFC, the club for supporters with double standards !

Just read that Bernie injured his ankle in a 'competitive drill' at training today (FFS, how about being competitive in games and not trainings.... ) and if he misses this weeks SANFL 'holiday' his suspension will carry over to the following week.... This is becoming an epsiode of the Benny Hill show very quickly..... :?
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Didn't think much of Noble's press conference where he made mention of their families. Totally unwarranted rubbish.
