Now it might be a bit early on, but Michael Barlow is quicly establishing himself as a real contender to win the Brownlow this year. Im assuming he would become the first rookie listed player, the first player to debut and win the brownlow in the same year, and the first Docker to win it, if he was to reign on the Monday before the grand final!

Iv looked closely at his odds lately, and he is currently at $34 on the TAB, before Round 6 he was $81 and before round 5 he was $126.

Rd 1 he was clearly best against the crows, but may only get 1 or 2, as umpires seem to rewards the stars before a first gamer, and because of this i think he will poll 2 votes, with Sandilands to get 3 votes.

Rd 2, he was again best IMO against the Bombers and will poll 3 votes.

Rd 3 Freo beat Geelong and Barlow had Ling tag him for most of the day and will not poll.

Rd 4 Freo played the Saints and will not poll, but still played a fairly good game.

Rd 5 Freo came from behind to convincgly beat Richmond. Barlow will poll 2 or 3 votes, with Sandilands probably taking the top honours!

Rd 6: Freo beat WCE and Barlow awarded the Ross Glendinning medal and should get another 3 votes.

He could quite easily have 12 votes, but realistically would have 8 at the very least, so more then likely on around 10 votes.

I for one, would love to see Fremantly continue this form, and Barlow to continue his form and take out the night. What a story it would be! From this fairytale, there is one thing standing in his way, and that is Gary Ablett Jnr!

That would be a remarkable effort. What he and Podsiadly have achieved so far to Rd 6 is an outstanding effort in itself.

Barlows efforts in helping Freo establish a quality mid-field far outweight Podsiadly's efforts as a key forward in a team full of brilliant midfielders IMO.

I would have kicked a goal or two by now with the amount of service and delivery Podsiadly is currently afforded.

He is leading the contested marks count for the AFL. I would have thought it's a lot harder to be a key forward in your first year of senior footy, than a midfielder. History shows that. The fact he is doing it at 28 is even more impressive IMO. You just have a problem with Geelong because they make your team look like a bunch of first rate sissies

The Pod has done remarkably well, but what Barlow has achieved far outweighs what the Pod has done so far. The Pod only played Richmond on the weekend!

He's been fantastic. So has Pod. I was just saying it believe it is a lot harder to come in and play key forward and play well, rather than a midfielder, so that's where Pod gets my vote. A lot of his possessions aren't from easy kicks either, they are from contested marks. Having said that, Barlow has been very good.

Podsiadly has been playing high level footy for years as a key forward. The step from VFL to AFL has been made easy by being in the best team around as opposed to playing for Coburg / Richmond.

The thing with Barlow is, can he maintain his form?

Chapman is also a chance at $41. The question with him is can his body stay fit?

Selwood, if you mean Joel, i think will struggle. His form has been very suspect, but played extremely well on the weekend.
The Pod has got the best defender because he is better then mooney and hawkins, and not receiving the third best defender

So 5 years ago when Podsiadly was 23 he was past it ( in most clubs views ) as they targeted 17 year olds. As mentioned all over the media, mature age recruits who can offer 3 or 4 years service will become more and more the norm in the future. Especially when they wouldn't command high salaries and would just be happy for the opportunity.

If Chris Judd isn't leading at the moment, I'd be surprised. Despite missing the opening 3 games, could conceivably have nine votes already.

Even allowing for the generally good reception he gets from umpires, Adam Goodes has also had some big games for Sydney. Ryan Griffen has also had a sound start to the year at the Bulldogs.

The intangible might be Nic Natanui. While the Eagles have only won one game, he is physically very hard to ignore and the spectacular things he does might be sneaking him preferences.
