Weekend wrap up.
Saw the 1st half of Tassies v Boston. First up, why did Boston kick agin the breeze after winning the toss. It was dry FFS and I would have thought they would like to get out to a lead early in case it rained later. Second ,why did Boston leave A Monfries at full forward for all of that 1st quarter when the ball hardly got down there. He can play FFS - what a waste. Other than that, they were smashed all over the ground by a tall, strong, running, hard at it Tasmans outfit who continually had numbers around the ball. For mine Bostons did not have a winner in the 1st half
Unless they have more players to come in they won't win too many with that kind of effort. On the hand the other sides in the comp better beware of the Roosters. Their inclusions were handy or better and perhaps the only thing that might stop them is their recent years form, in particuular, will they know how to win the tight ones against a better outfit than they faced on Satdy. Only time will tell, but for now - very impressed.

Saw the 2nd half of Souths v Waybacks and like everyone else I thought W would kick on after 3/4 time. So surprised I am and all credit to Souths. Keatley needs a hand from his teammates and being the first time I have seen him play, can see why he won the medal last year. White is a huge bonus for LS and with Jericho they have 2 of the best going round. If they are held, they might struggle against the top sides - whoever they are ?? Waybacks - remove the numbers youv'e got on the back of the jumpers and replace them with ones you can read. ( ;) Thats for you TRR)

Only saw the 1st 1/4 of MP and MR - no only joking. Look the famous Mallee run, find space and deliver game was on in earnest during the game and if MR can take anything from the game it is that they were not completely overrun and handed an absoltute thrashing. So some credit there tho not much you can hang your hat on. I was stunned at the amount of times the ball was dropped, fumbled miskicked and everyting else bad when MR went into attack. Skills were bad and improve that part of their game (it can't get worse) and results will come. I am not talking fringe type players either - all of them. The amount of missed marks when they were contesting against smaller opposition was mind boggling. Credit to Mallees for the pressure applied tho. Brayden Calderwood was an exception - very good game and Hayden Parker did his utmost in the last 1/4 to turn things around. No 6 for MP Jayden Roderick, Joseph Burgoyne (just keeps demanding the ball) and Harry were very good for MP. Must mention the MR defence which was good and stopped the onslaught. I rekn MP had 75% of the play including the 1st 1/4.

So much for the tips -SFA - and you may be right ol - donation :(

Agree with you about the missed opportunities when MR went forward there Steiger. MR seemed to be able to get it into their forward lines easily, dominating the centre clearances but just did nothing with it, so many dropped marks and fumbles. Those forwards deserve a good flogging at training tonight!!! MP cleared their defence and just ran it out easy as, with excellent skills and run.

Haven't given it much thought although the one that sticks with me is Chook at CHF when he is about as good as you can get at full back. MR still have 5 to come back in, not the least important being a hopefully sound Sarge at FF to take a bit of pressure off Parker and Seaman. What in particular daicos ?

Speaking to the umpires after the game they were dissappointed with Kayser not pulling up from the contest with Treager when it was evident that he was not fully upright.
He will be given his chance to have his say at the tribunal but he can expect 2 or 3 weeks on the sidelines from what I hear.
The PLFL wish Treager all the best in his recovery

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

Saw the Bostons v Tasmans game the Roosters big men in George and Mason gave the on ballers first use of the ball MJ
had a field day. Magic at CHB played a great game and ran off his opponent at every opportunity. I was impressed
with both Monfries especially Chook? but to many passengers.
Interestingly enough all winners of the round obviously benefited from playing in the preseason cup
particularly with Rangers and Waybacks running out of legs.
ps
How did Bostons get William Roderick?

There were a lot of preplexing moves or lack of moves over the weekend from what I have seen and heard. You would expect better from Bostons with all that experience in the coaches box as making an elementry mistake like that is inexcusable. You have been taught from the age of 8 to always kick with the wind. In our day steiger if I had have won the toss and kicked against the breeze I would have been stripped of the captaincy.

daicos - there ARE times you would absolutely kick against the breeze... a lot of thought needs to go into that decision - 1. Who you are playing 2.The weather conditions 3.Your match day plans with the weather conditions. so there were certainly times when you can use those factors to your advantage - by kicking against the breeze.

I can't agree with that. What can you exicute in the second term that you cant exicute in the first term? And wouldnt it be better to be 3 goals up rather than 3 goals down?
As the games slow down late in matches you can hang onto leads. I cant agree with you at all rossco. steiger do you agree?
can I have an example rossco

Given your comments rossco
why did bostons kick into the breeze?

1) opposition -Tasmans
2) Weather conditions - 30km hour winds favouring clubroom end, possible shower during the day
3) Match day plans with the weather conditions - win, 30km hour winds favouring clubroom end, possible shower during the day
