it has been surprising to hear the public support for this new jumper, from supporters of both Adelaide clubs. I wonder if the decision makers at Port will try and make this jumper a stayer, i think they are onto something it is an attractive guernsey.

I did notice some good looking chicks, but none bearing the Power scarfe....

Port are looking at making the V jumper their away jumper is that true ? What's the point ! They won't be able to wear it against Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Melbourne, Richmond & Freo...

Watching today's game, I've noticed that it looks like the Big 'V' guernsey that was worn magnificently by the mighty Victorian state teams. ;)

I agreed with the comment from the guy who designed the original jumper in the paper today. It's an identity issue at the club. What other club would just wear this guernsey on a whim because it 'looks good'. If they want to attract outsiders they have to have an identity and stick with it.

Saw this story on AdelaideNow and couldn't resist sharing it with you.

It appears Port Magpies & Port Power are trying to enter a joint fundraising venture by having the Magpie put on the Power guernsey for their 140 yrs celebration game V Richmond, then selling them off.

I especially like Eddie's quote""I think Port have actually got to get over all this stuff with their identity," McGuire said. "We're conscious of people's history, but they were the Cockledivers in the early days, not the magpies, so if they're going to celebrate what they did 140 years ago maybe they should wear that.

"It shouldn't be a big deal, but again, we get a bit tired of Port Adelaide trying to slip behind the scenes on these things."

Eddie hasn't learnt what we South Australian's know, that isn't the true Port Adelaide Tradition ;)

Im with Eddie, Port should bring out the Rose Pink guernsey with a matching Rose Pink cap that their sister club wore in the late 1800s if they're that proud of their tradition. Won't clash with anyone.

As much as I like his passion for what's best for his club, this is typical Eddie. All he needed to say was that the Magpie emblem belongs to Collingwood in the AFL. The comments on Port's attitude to it's history and the references to the cockle-divers are just the usual unncessary Eddie add-ons to make sure he gets a good headline to help his position.

Another completely meaningless cliche. I think you say it because it sounds good but do you actually know what you mean? If you think I knock anything to do with Melbourne clubs just for the sake of it then you are judging me when you don't know me and you are way off beam.

If it's easier for you to dismiss any criticism of Collingwood by saying that critics have a chip on their shoulder, without considering the actual issue, then go ahead.

Eddie is criticised in Melbourne for exactly the same type of thing so do they have a chip on their shoulder too? I'd criticise any CEO from any team if they acted the way Eddie does sometimes. Other times I think he is great for both the AFL and Collingwood. I play each ball on it's merits.

I reckon Port's black jumper caused a Chad clanger tonight. A water carrier was scuttling off the ground with a black jacket on and Chad appeared to attempt to pass it to him using one of those 'side of the boot' type kicks. The ball sailed out on the full but I reckon that Chad noticed at the very last minute and tried too late to modify his kick and out she went.
