Ryder looked very lost up forward, need to get him into the game across half back and through the guts.

I reckon Essendon are on the right track. I reckon they are trying to emulate the 'Geelong' style of run and carry and using the corridor rather than the St Kilda/Hawthorn model of 'frontal pressure' or uberzone.

I also like the way that Knights backs his players. Some critics say that he doesn't do enough on match day but he's got to find out who can implement his game plan and who can't. When they become a more mature side they will be a regular top four side but they aren't there yet.

A real opportunity to defeat the Cats went begging last night as you could almost see the rust flakes falling off players like Milburn, Mooney and Scarlett. I thought the player with the most truncated pre-season Joel Corey was our best. What a great 200th game by the champ. I couldn't believe the amount of goals Geelong gave away from simple errors. That won't be happening in a few weeks so if you want to clean up the Cats the time is now.

A couple of seasons Turbs. Especially if they can find a decent big forward. You don't replace guys like Lucas and Lloyd (or Fev!) in a hurry. They'll get their chance when the age of Cats/Dogs/Saints has passed and the fogies have retired from the Crows and Brisbane starts counting the cost of the 2010 top up.

By 2012 I reckon that Collingwood will be absoutely cherry ripe and the Bombers and West Coast will be major challengers.

Essendon's mid sized players looked good but need some talent in the tall brigade

How distant is the light at the end of the tunnel for Carlton's next win Turbo, let alone next premiership??? Round 10 v West Coast perhaps? After Round 1 v Geelong I thought we were better than Carlton, despite the Blues' flogging of poor old Richmond, good to be proven right last night. Obviously Judd will make them better, but a fit McVeigh and Monfries will help us also. Good to see the signs of confidence in Gumbleton.

Pfft you are at the end of the day no better off than us. You won, good on ya. We are still higher on the ladder, and you also have a tough run over the next month. So don't gloat too much.

True that Turbo, but when you make a point of coming on the Essendon forum time and time again just to hang sh!t on us, you've got to expect some return fire! It's OK though, I'd be pretty p!ssed off if one of our major rivals had made us their personal b!tch too! ;)

Having said all that, you'll probably beat the Crows this week, and egg will need to be surgically removed from my Hale and Pace, yet again! But that's what it's all about isn't it??

I know it is a fave catch word, but "Power Forward". If you don't have one, you won't go far in finals.

Hurley back this week will play Forward and also if they can get Neagle into some form will both be able to play there.

Essendon won't go far either, bombing the ball in long without a "Power Forward"...

Yeah they're best options are Neagle, Gumbleton, Williams and Hurley and they need to stand up soon enough. They need a decent tall forward who kicks goals on a regular basis to be in the mix for finals.
