Since Patch I would say the toughest 20 have been

1 Ringo Saunders
2 Steve Whillas
3 Chunky Bryant
4 Milky Saunders
5 Trout Trenowden
6 Jim Schrapel
7 Michael Yeates
8 Brenton Mortimer
9 Adie Searle
10 Steve Kerr
11 John Ettridge
12 Craig Barelds
13 Beau Jenkins
14 Chook Majoor
15 Reg Potts
16 Ollie Flanigan
17 Wal Fowler
18 Chook Henley
19 Brandon Picket
20 Mark Reynolds

who have I left out?

I played with 8 of the above, and Morts excluding, I would be intimidated...

I already said Pete Shanley, but I'd want to see Mark Thorpe on that list for sure.

Ollie's lad Caleb wasn't too bad at it, either...

You could also add Greg 'swimmer' Fisher to that list and possibly Leon Earl. Did Goldie play football marble park? he would have been hard at it.

Went out to Ravendale last night and watched both games. Bit hard to give an extensive report cos there were a lot of players I and others did not know.

However - the Tasman v Mallee game was the best to watch and both these sides "looked better" than LS and B in the 2nd game which, at this early stage. would confirm most peoples thoughts on this forum about the latter 2's chances for this year. Tasmnas looked alright, were hard enough at it and showed some good, crisp, first give footy - as did MP. Tassies got up by a goal or therabouts. Don't know who they have all got to come into their sides. Tasmans looked to have some height. Forgive me for not talking too much about MP but I think we all know how they will go. Not much diiferent to last year from where I sat and they will still shake a few this year. Reckoned Cambo went alright and a dry day will suit Yoey better. Better off getting a Tasman supporter and a Mallee one to give better insights on on individual performances last night.

Bostons beat Souths thanks to 2 late goals which was the end margin (UA gets a bit carried away). I will say though that from looking at the game I thought they would win but only just as it turned out. One Boston players predisposition to attack the player rather than the ball brought a lot of comments from the crowd and was true which is unfortunate cos he doesn't need to, has the skill to not worry about that and in fact did get a lot of the ball besides that anyway. A bit more concentration on the ball and he will be very good. Work it out for yourselves who I am taliking about. If Jericho is not the best CHB in the league I will dent my felt hat (great comment Daicos). Just love the way he plays and goes about things and his undeniable ability.
Can't write either of these teams off but the feeling is that the others might be better. Don't know if I was seeing things that don't exist or not but both these sides tended to attack wide a lot rather than thru CHF. Is this cos they don't have a dominant CHF - tell me if I am wrong

Saw most of the footy last night - all sides showed glimpses of form - including the movement of footy thru the middle of the ground - Tasman and South especially. Souths look very young, with good movement from half back with White and Jerico - Tasmans look to have the structure of a good side - Bostons have a couple of very handy inclusions (with more to come) and moved the footy well - Mallee Park have plenty to come in and will be strong again.

Tonight
6.30pm - Lincoln South v Tasmans
7.30pm - Boston v Mallee Park

I watched the first game and saw you umpiring Rossco. Will you be umpiring all season? If so great to see some people putting back into the game after playing. Credit to you son and I am sure you would get a lot of respect on the field even in the bright orange ;)
You set a good example

daicos, I am umpiring for the PLFL Umpires panel - I'm keen to umpire at Under 17 level - just cutting my teeth in this Night series - was a bit of fun and trying to give something back to the game. And along the way I might actually lose some weight - not the lightest guy going around.... got some ribbing from the guys on the other oval - all in good fun - 5 doughnuts Murray!!
