Worst by a mile is McAvaney.....

Listen closely to how pretty well every time he makes a statement, he then asks a question. ie, It was a great kick....wasn't it? And now, he has started adding to his dribble after he has asked the question. :?

He used to be a great commentator when he was calling SANFL games in the early eighties. Then he became self-aware and that was all she wrote. Same thing has happened to Commetti who is now hugely overrated. Tries too hard the pair of them.

I know its not TV, but I still find the Triple M crew of Gary Lyon, James Brayshaw, BT and Spud Frawley the best to listen to by an absolute stretch. Thouroughly entertaining and very insightful. Hopefully if Ch 9 get the rights back we can have these guys on the TV together once again

I don't think the ABC boys on grandstand do a bad job of calling the game either.
Stan Alves says some pretty insightful stuff.

Some of our AFL TV commentators would improve dramatically if they took a trip to the UK to receive some instruction from these skilled media men.

Ever listened to Andy Gray or Jamie Redknapp...?

Yes but I was referring to the main commentators who control the broadcast not the 'expert' comments men.

Some of the best I've heard are Phil Liggett and Martin Tyler for their respective sports.
Simon Hill is also not bad as a soccer voice.

Geez lucky it wasn't Andy Maher commentating the "goime" then.....

BT has moved over to 3AW, Rex Hunt is on Triple M this year. Doesn't have the same cohesion without Taylor in that line-up of Brayshaw and Lyon.

Tim Lane, I believe, started believing his own reviews some time back and became a self-important oracle. Now I have to laugh when Mr Principle has to read those ridiculous sponsor names.
