On Sunday we played 1.5 bad quarters of footy and they kicked away. We turned the ball over and their foot skills were exceptional in passages that is why they would often find players free inside 50 and why McGlynn bobbed up. The defenders can only do so much when the ball is turned over up the field and if the ball is delivered to the forwards.
I think our ruckman won the centre taps yet we lost the clearances.
One glaring part of the ground were we breakdown and have done since Jarman retired is coming into our attacking half of the ground. What is our forward coach doing?
Walker led up in stages and we would NOT just put it out infront of him and let him run onto it. (This is something they did alot of particularly through the centre of the ground)
Tippett constantly called for the ball on his head even when seaby and mumford had dropped the kick behind play because he was fecked from rucking also. That is why we turned the ball over so much 80-100 metres out from goal. No forward movement, no one saying "yep kick out infront of me and im gonna grab the f*king thing"
Sellar started well and was unfortunate he hurt himself, IMO we need Tippet to stay up forward and play 2 other ruckman.
Positives
We started running the ball better in the second half, petrenko, Mckay, dangerfield!
Cook showed he can get more of the footy(still needs to work on his disposal), truck was solid down back
On Douglas, alot of people have bagged him but i think he busted his ass off and didnt have alot of blokes helping him. Yes he turned it over a few times, but when you look up and no one is presenting, What the f*ck to you do with it? He needs work on his consistency his good games are good and his bad are bad... needs to find some common ground between good and bad. If he gets dropped who do we play? Jacky?? pffft His position may get questioned when Knights returns
As for Edwards, Mcleod, Goodwin well they are playing a role still and once again, who do play if they are gone? some of our youngsters are already getting shown up in there first few games, when they prob arent ready for it. Imagine if we didnt have these 3 holding it all together
Burton, even though his first game and has had limited preparation i think he has come back to the pack now and were prob better of with him playing SANFL and trent forward or permanent inside 50(playing another ruckman)
