Chad Cornes

Postby hearts on fire » Tue Feb 16, 2010 4:30 pm

After a couple of leaner years and a poor injury run, i would love to see Chad return to his best form and play in his best position, centre half back.

For Port to have a good year, we need Chad to fire up and play some good footy.

how has Chad's pre-season been?

I'd like to see the Chad play CHB more too.

I'd also like to see him kick and handball less to his brother!!!

I think he really needs a run in the SANFL to find the old form..... ;)

Serious question so do Port Power fans expect Kane to play SANFL this year?

Whilst it would be nice to see him back home in #12, I personally can't see it happening, one of your few players apart from Cassisi and Surjan that win the footy. Yes I did watch lasst night but seriously such was West Coasts pressure I only saw LBGs in the 2nd half...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Surely not Chad, as well? As I said not trying to troll here, would think they would both be in Choco's best 22.

You wont see either of the Studleys this year at the Bay, well, maybe watching but neither of them will play there.

I expect Chad to run riot across half back with support from Chaplin and Carlile while Kane's disposal gets questioned at times he does hit lead up players well and I think he might spend a bit of time across half forward as the defensive player in that area, trying to lock it in there.

Nah, Kane will definitely play 22 AFL games if he's fit.

My post was in jest as he does seem to be much maligned within the Port faithful.

fair enough and the answers I expected, as I stated above I though there would be more chance of Booney buying a Bays membership this year than both the Cornes boys lining up for the Bays in 2010.

Can the Power afford to play Chad at CHB playing wide of his man? It worked OK a few years ago but the rise of the Hawks and Saints with their 'half court press' for want of a better expression might make things a bit more difficult for Chad to emulate his earlier role in the team with the same level of effectiveness.

I reckon Chad is enigmatic and such a reflection of his team.

Has ability in spades but Im not sure if he can get back to that competition top-tiered status he once held ... Can be a brilliant player, but lack work-rate at times and can damage his team with ill-discipline and poor body language that shouldn't emanate from a senior player.

If it sounds like Im harsh on Chad it's only because I genuinely rate him and think he's capable of much more.

The years get away quite quickly and he's entering the twilight years of his career, so I hope he can knuckle down and deliver on all fronts.

From what i can gather Chaplin and Carlisle are the main tall defenders, and Chad will be given a flanking role which prob means he can do what the f*** he wants most of the time. I always thought when he was at his best and playing Centre half back it was still relatively easy to exploit him by playing the ball through his "direct" opponent while he was zoning off and being creative. I think by him playing a flank it will more or less be up to him to pick up the lesser forward of the opposition allowing him to be more attacking. Not convinced tho that he wont be exploited once the opposition learn the best way to play him.

i think it was a great move to leave chad out of the leadership group as he can just worry about what he is doing and have a fantastic year running off a half back flank

Lets hope Port can wake up to themselves and put chad at Centre Half Back. If his role becomes similar to Sam Fisher/ Nathan Bock it will help the power big time and with Carlile, Chaplin, Surjan back there as well and with Peter Burgoyne gone Ports defence looks pretty solid

I'm a fan of Pettigrew. I think he's shown a fair bit of talent. Just needs to stay injury free and become a consistent performer.
