Gerardo is a bit of a genius on the greens and has a great record and reputation throughout the state. Has won 2 Country Carnival Singles and 1 pairs with Mario Valcic but has also been runner up in the singles twice I think and also in the pairs with Des Woolford. Not sure how many Club titles he has but would think he has won around 3 Club Singles. (is also into this years singles grand final)
Trialled with the state side 3-4 years ago and they foolishly overlooked him as he is at that level without any shadow of a doubt. Probably his age counted against him but gee whiz if you can beat blokes younger than you, aren't you better than them and deserving of a spot.
Whilst I have only played singles against him 4 times, our record stands at 2 apiece. The last 2 times have both been this year - in the quarter finals of the club singles a month ago and in the quarter final of the Country singles in Adelaide sunday week ago.
His history in singles is particularly interesting this year when in the last 3 games he beat Brad Harris, me and then Damir Gregov in very close encounters and when his opponents each held game against him at least once. He survived in each case and just lifted a gear in the closing stages to outlast them. Same happened against me again in the Country Singles quarter final 11 days ago. Such is his ability I still savour my wins against him. Skippered against him in last Saturdays pennants and also yesterday's midweek pairs pennants and recorded 10 -12 shot wins against him in both which was also satisfying.

As far as ranking the Port Lincoln members, while David Fulton is not playing, Gerardo is clearly IMO ranked 1. Such is the depth in our Club it could be a bit of lottery ranking the rest but here goes (current year's form is influencing me here)
1 - Gerardo Perone
2 - Chris Kearns
3 - Gary Schreiber
4 - Kym Wakefield,
5 - Brad Harris
6 - Mario Valcic
7 - Bob Milic
8 - Joe Perone
9 - Peter Green
10 - Peter Myers
(others include Damir Gregov, Ron Clarke, Paul Reincke,Allan Stagg, Larry Vallance, Ian Fulton, Vic Valcic)
(but others may have different opinions)

With regards to the Roo and Perrie they were great players with the emphasis on were.
they have talked about this for a couple of years but nothing eventuated. I would think the Roosters are
far more focussed on giving the young guys who are out at training a go than having a "one hit wonder" :)

I would hope you are right in regards to your last sentence
Roo = an all time great
Perrie = in the context of AFL whatever the opposite of great is

I'll start it off - Rumour has it that Marble Range are about to sign Gavin Wanganeen and Josh Francou

According to your silly billy chief recuiter they wouldn't get a game at MR this year.....

I would worry about my own back yard before having a go at other recruiters by the sounds of things.

and the rest of you lot when you come to realise what a great game it is, how much fun you can have and how you should start up earlier rather than later

Hayden hasn't played for 2 years onSong but when he did he was good and would only get better and I would think may well turn into a bit of a gun.

Iv'e always said if you are good at a ball sport like footy then fair chance you will be half handy at bowls as well.

membership forms are on the notice board at the club all ready for you all for next season

Us Reds beat the Whites last Saturday. My rink and Yabbie's got up for Reds and that was enough to offset Brad Harris and Bob Milic's losses. Whites held game until Yabbie's last bowl drew shot for victory. The rest of us had finished and were watching and you might have heard the cheer after his bowl. Wasn't a bad effort from the Reds who were missing 3 of their 4 skippers.

Lincoln Red may now have moved into top spot over Lincoln White who were top.

Finals start 20th March
