Most likely Rann will resign himself, yet will get his propaganda machine rolling first to give himself an exit from politics in the best possible way and that its all the fault of someone else etc etc.
Labor will still win the election next time around simply because Liberals are to far behind to make up enough seats to get a win. Labor might lose some seats of course yet will have enough to stay in government until the Liberals get their act together.
I am tipping some in the Labor camp are a little relieved that the Democrats are no more, because in an upcoming election like this, they may well have picked up the protest vote from people who dislike both groups, which most likely will now be split between the Greens and Family First based on left or right leaning voters.

Pity there's no effective opposition (at the State or Federal level) because good government and democracy depends on it.

Ah, but what Labor were trying to do was win even more of the Liberal seats to help them keep government even longer. Dont think they were just trying to win the next election - they were trying to reduce the Liberals down to the bare minimum of seats so it would take them 3-4 elections to win back government.
They are the NSW Labor Party reincarnated and unless the SA Liberal Party gets its shit together, we will go down the same path as NSW.
BTW, there is one prominent Liberal MP, with an oversupply of testosterone, who should take note of what happens when "you get caught".

It won't happen though ... the best result (if we concede the government will be returned) is that they are given a hell of a fright and are returned with a much reduced majority. Then it's game on for the following election.
