i know they are quality players as my above post said but im mearly stating that i think is kind of becoming a joke (the saafl this is) that div5 teams have to resort to paying a dozen blokes to come to there club. just to have a crack at going up.
this is in no way a crack a B lodge as i have no idea about the ins and outs of that club, but more a personal view at where the comp is headed.
and on the roo thing get over it, he sponsors are club and wants a game every couple of weeks, whos going to say no!?
as i said in bold, was more a comment on the comp not the club. i think it is sad that clubs have to resort to paying blokes to play div5 or lower. f**k it div 4 for that matter.
and yeah as jimmy said, we didnt drop anyone for the GF that was taken into account. and even if the GF ment nothing too Roo which i know it does (obviously not as much as other achievments) hes one bloke from the club that will msg blokes and say "im having a beer and a punt at the pub come join." pretty sure id rather blokes like that round the club then blokes purely there for the coin.
end rant

i think you guys getting roo and mods to play was awesome..but dont act so high and mighty to clubs who have some spare coin to try and improve their stocks when they dont have connections like some clubs do

Re: SAAFL Div 5 & 5R (2010)
we always go under the salary cap when paying
these players have came to us after our decent year and we know every single recruit we haven't just recruited random players..
there not getting paid ship stations, they would be getting less from us then the previous clubs
without juniors coming through the ranks it is hard for us..
some clubs might be happy floating around in div 5, 6, or 7 but we don't, we want to play the best footy we can

Pfffft let them think we pay people Sheet Stations....we know better its as simple as that...most payments would amount to little more then petrol money at best. No other clubs give out drink cards or pay players fees its only BL......

Why not, if that is what's sustainable.
Sometimes you are better off realising your level especially when you don't have juniors coming through.

I find it always interesting when clubs talk about other clubs and how much they pay, perhaps this shows some insecurities in their own club administration coming through....
The simple answer is every club pays players in some way or another (yes even old scholar clubs), it all depends if what they pay is income generated as to how long term it remains, the fact for clubs to recruit quality players to their club sometimes requires payment, how much they get paid is up to the individual club.
The Lodge are probably a good point to look at, they recruited heavily last year, got promoted from Div 6 and from what I hear posted almost a $10,000 profit for the year, this coming of a $6,000 loss from the previous year when they hardly won a game...
If you structure it properly and have the right people involved, you make it work - simple as that.
Everyone should stop going on about it and if a club is recruiting to go as far as they can and can generate the funds to do it, then good on them, if you want your club to do it, jump on a committee.
The good thing is that the new player point system will limit clubs in how many players they can recruit so hopefully all the in-your-endo about clubs forking out millions will be finally put to rest
FC the only question i have for you is. Will clubs now pay out more players to individual players and not 4 or 5 players like they are now,. I think doing this points system will mean players with low points will get little money and recruits with big points will get $$$$$$$$$$$$. Alot like the blokes we have recruited this year, all getting MASSIVE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Re: SAAFL Div 5 & 5R (2010)
Overall i think people need to move with the times. I will use an example i know.
Eastern Park Football Club.
This team was div 6 in 1997 (i believe could be 96) now 13 years later are premil finalist in div 2. Now a lot of the players there are juniors from the club, however all these junior players at the club are paid, and have been paid well over the journey. EPFC have for the last 13 years payed every player that plays A grade footy. It range from (in my time there 99 - 06) $20 demon dollars (used over the bar) to $100 cash. Now if this money was not paid would they have made it so far and had such a big junior base, we will never know. All i know is they have been very, very smart in keeping the same players to make the club stronger. They would now have the biggest junior base in the northern suburbs. All fron the a grade success. This has all come from paying those DIV 6 players that now play very successfuly at the div 2 level.
All i will say about Brahma Lodge is that we are trying to follow in the footsteps of clubs like Eastern Park. BLFC had 2 junior sides this year, next year we wont 3. There is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to make the junior program grow and be the next group of a grade players at BLFC. This junior program will grow from a strong and successful A grade side.
Also just want to finish by saying BLFC is still looking for quality a grade footballers for next year. As you are aware we have piles of $$$$$$$$$ avaliable. So if you are keen for a house deposit or a new car PM me and will make sure you never have to work again.
This is the end of me defending My club. Every club thinks there clubs perfect but therenot people just need to move with the times

I guess that means that Brahma Lodge are at least being pro-active in re-building their club and giving themselves the best shot at moving up the grades so as long as they can sustain it then good luck to them. Having played against them for quite a few years it'd be fair to say that they let themselves down in quite a few areas over the years but it looks like they are having a decent crack and trying to improve and along with that comes the respect.
Can I have my car now ???
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

That presents a problem - look at the Mckee fellow from the Blodge. The club had to take on extra sponsors just to pay for him

Didn't someone from Eastern Park win x-lotto around this time? I'm by no means knocking the place, I'm sure there was some good money around the place at that time and it has been a credit to them for maintaining their success over a long period.

indeed a well roasted chestnut FC.
as for the critics getting on the commmittee to actually help generate the funds to pay players i could not agree more. it's bloody hard work and often taken for granted. we put in place player cash awards this year and then we were 'advised' by a few players that this money should go to the players we needed to keep around the place in the future. sheesh.
clubs who can afford to will pay players directly, others who can't afford it will spread it out in incentives as best they can. overall i think it is a minority of players chasing money so let them do it. too much time spent focussed on the minority.
play on.

Re: SAAFL Div 5 & 5R (2010)
if the points system was actually in place for 2010 rather than being trialled, can anyone work out what the value of BL and Elizabeth imports would be. Just out of interest since they have are the two clubs putting names out. I've read the document and its going to create a bit of extra admin to do all the calcs.
my view is that there will be a massive amount of moves this pre season to beat the system for at least 2011 as every player on a clubs books will be worth 0 when it comes into place as i understand it.
