I'm not sure why everyone seems so anxious about the gradings :?

 Last year they were only announced on Sep 18th, and I think the year before they were only announced at the Delegates meeting on Sep 24th.
 They were emailed around to each club's representatives last Thursday, so I thought the details would have filtered down to most people by now

They are now listed on our website (ccca.sa.cricket.com.au) along with all the fixtures.

So let the exec bashing begin! There is no way we can please everyone!

Just some comments from me:

Rose Park are unlucky to be relegated to Div 2, but with 7 teams nominating for Div 1, the fairest solution is to promote the Div 2 premiers, and relegate the wooden spooners.

The hardest thing to decide was the split between one-day and two-day games. The reasoning for the 7-3 split, as given by our President is:

While there were a number of teams who would have preferred to have more one-day matches, the determining factors in arriving at the 7/3 mix were:-
1. There is a dedicated one-day grade to cater for those players who prefer this format.
2. The overwhelming majority wanted to play opposition teams an equal number of times,
and playing the 6/6 mix as we did last season results in playing some teams twice and
other teams three times.

A 5/5 split is the only way to satisfy both requests, but that means that we only play a maximum of 15 weeks in the season, which isn't enough.
Also, with the likelihood of some weeks being rained/heated out, there is a strong possibility that we will play more than 3 one-day games anyway.

As usual, all comments are welcome and will be taken on board by the exec.

Gradings i think look really good and even on paper...

Good to see Enfield back to 4 sides again this season, and also Ross Smith back in the comp.

A bit disappointed to see Wolves only playing one day games though.

And welcome and good luck to North Pines ;)

I hope Morialta have made the correct choice nominating for div 1 after the exodus of players, i know a handfull of players from the B grade arent comfortable with moving up... time will tell..

I think it is a joke that we are moving back to less one day games. Now the program means you playe some teams in one day matches but not all.I am sure this was not what most teams said on the survey. I may be wrong

I dont think it is the right decision. Just being Stubborn i think. Maybe more teams next year will nominate for the one day comp it will weaken the comp i believe. But if we are going backwards in programing less one dayers that will happen.

That is an important point that we need to be careful about.
We have already lost some strength (particularly Northern Wolves) as a result of introducing the one-day comp which has meant that Morialta Bs have had to move up to Div 3 when they probably shouldn't be there. If by going back to a 50/50 split of one-day/two-dayers next season means we will retain more teams in the main competition, I think we should do that.

On the positive side, the one-day competition has meant we now have the most teams for at least the last 8 years I think (35 at the moment) :D

Yeah i dont think its that big a deal whether you play every side or not, the only time it would really concern people i would imagine wouyld be if it was a lob sided grade or a major gap in ability between sides e.g. Fitzroy B grade last season.

Since the gradings look quite even i dont think its a problem..

Speaking of Pidge... heard a rumor he tried to duck a ball from BB and got bowled middle stump.. =)) =))

Also if my mail is accurate im predicting Pidge to play more for 'Roys than prospect this season and Tommy Kennison to get the call up to the redbacks :P

no, no no....he ducked a ball that would have clipped the top of off stump........and it smacked him straight in the head. No Blood though.......although Pidge did see red !!!

FYI - Kennison to coach Redbacks, not play.

Has anyone heard any rumours about players changing grades. Maybe from teams that have gone down grades.

Like Reidy to Morialta, for example, Spintwin?? :D

You'll need floaties, spuds of steel (noahs) and a freestyle stroke like Grant Hackett to get anywhere near me with a cricket ball this summer BB.. ;)

The times on the website were an oversight that has now been fixed.

The starting times are the same as last season - i.e. 12:30 for one-dayers and 1:00 for two-dayers.
