geez it looks like Freo have given away a fair bit, 2 first round draft choices plus 2 players that 12 months ago would have been untouchable

Freo needed a key forward to back up Pavlich

Good for Polak,he can run around Richmonds back half kicking it to and fro between the Bowden boys.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I think draft pick eight was Richmonds

Richmond: In: Polak and draft pick 13. Out: Draft pick eight
Fremantle: In: Tarrant. Out: Medhurst and Polak
Collingwood: In: Medhurst and draft pick eight. Out: Tarrant.

I think Richmond and Collingwood did very well in this trade...Freo got screwed over once again!

Freo lost Polak, Medhurst and pick 13

Gained Tarrant and pick 42!

#-o it wouldn't suprise me if history repeats itself again (T. Croad!)

I see the freo move as Tarrant up forward i.e. the key forward target and pavlich to play more of a mid-field role a la Goodes.Tthat tall running midfield type who is a target coming out of defence and can fun forward to be the "4th tall"

In other words they can stop robbing Peter to pay Paul by having a permanent forward in Tarrant and keep Pavlich for the midfield/half forward, may be the piece of the jig saw Freo need. In Time well tell but Connoley showed that both medhurst and Polak weren't in his best 22 at the end of last season....

At the risk of pissing off Syd-D maybe Freo are doing what Adel did at the end of 2002, trading for the "final piece" of the jigsaw to win a flag in teh next two years while the "window" is still there with there current playing group. Final 4 or bust next year for Freo methinks....

Chris, you have two years to win a flag, your time starts now!!

imagine all those Collingwood kiddies burning their guernsies ATM with #20 on the back???

Mega-deal completed
1:24:54 PM Fri 13 October, 2006
Paul Gough
Sportal for afl.com.au
Trade week's first mega deal has taken place, with Graham Polak now a Tiger, Chris Tarrant a Docker and Paul Medhurst a Magpie.

Under the complex deal, Polak joins the Tigers on a three-year deal from Fremantle for a swap of first-round picks, with the Dockers getting Richmond's pick no.8 and the Tigers getting the Dockers' pick 13.

The Tigers also gave up their third round pick to the Dockers, pick 42 overall, but in return got the Dockers fourth round pick, no.63.

The Dockers then on-traded pick eight to Collingwood for their five-tie leading goalkicker, while goalsneak Medhurst was also traded to the Magpies as part of the package.

And to complete the complicated trade, the Magpies and Tigers swapped fourth round picks, with the Tigers getting the Magpies' pick 60 while Collingwood got Richmond's pick 63, which the Tigers initially got from Fremantle.

Tarraqnt has plenty of ability and could be a good fit at Freo, however, at this point in time I'd be thinking Freo gave away more than they got

geez x 2...not a bad get for Polak...3 year deal for a guy who hardly played this year and has had his troubles off field....I would have thought 2 year max.
