SYDNEY Swans assistant coach, South Australian Peter Jonas, has accepted a position on the Adelaide Crows coaching panel
"After four great years in Sydney I thought that, at the age of 47, the timing was right to head home," said Jonas today.
"I was offered the opportunity to join the Adelaide footy club on the coaching panel and that, combined with the fact the family were keen to head home, made the decision much easier.
"I would sincerely like to thank Paul Roos and the Sydney Swans for giving me the opportunity to be a part of what is a tremendous football club, the memories I leave with will stay with me for the rest of my life."
Swans head coach Roos said the club fully understands the decision.
"Peter has been an extremely important member of our coaching team for four years and, while it's sad to see him go, we totally understand his wish to head home to Adelaide," he said.
"Peter's role in development has been pivotal in fast tracking a lot of our younger players to play in successive grand finals."
Roos said everyone at the club wishes him and his family all the best back in Adelaide.
