Anger at foul words

01 October 2006 Sunday Herald Sun

FAMILIES watching Channel 10's coverage of yesterday's Grand Final have seen red over a series of four-letter outbursts by celebrating Eagles stars.

Asked how he felt after the final siren, forward Quinten Lynch blurted out: ``It's f---ing a boy's dream, this is, to play in a Grand Final and to get up by one point.

``We're just rapt to get away with a win. It's f---ing awesome.''

Minutes later Dean Cox said: ``To the boys' credit, ah f---, we fought deep.''

Mike Martin, watching at home with his family, said it was a disgrace that left a sour taste after such a great contest.

``Channel 10 and the West Coast agles should have a lot to answer for, for allowing that to go to air,'' he said.

Collingwood fan Paul Noteeth said: ``It was rude and uncouth ... there is absolute no excuse for repeatedly using that language in front of millions of kids.''

But Channel 10 was unapologetic last night.

A spokeswoman said: ``It's a live broadcast, so we have to take what's there. We can't stop them swearing.''

Does Mike Martin understand the concept of live television? Obviously not.

I also find it funny a Collingwood supporter claiming someone to be rude and uncouth.

I thought the players "fresh airing" the Auskick kids who presented the medals was much worse - how hard is it to shake the kids hand????

Chick grabbed it off him and put it on himself...now theres a tool!!!

Not AFL, but on today's SANFL preliminary final coverage...

The cameras were in the North huddle at 3/4 time eavesdropping on Mother Duck Hargreaves revving up his teammates.

Hargy dropped the F-bomb.

The microphone volume was cut within seconds!

Didn't I read that a Norwood player said it straight after the '84 GF on TV?

It's got nothing to do with Norwood players or fans or anything, just that a) it's nothing new and b) it's an emotional time after a GF win, you are going to expect it. It's happened before, so perhaps if parents are concerned about it, then perhaps turn the volume down or switch the channel straight after the siren or something.

Mike Martin should ask his kids, wife, and himself have they,or will they ever use the dreaded 'F' bomb? If Mike says he hasn't,it's all a lie, this 'wife and kids' story, any one with them knows, you use it all the time.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
