Now THAT was one of the great Grand Finals of all time

Talk on the national game

I'm absolutely devastated. But congratulations to the West Coast Eagles. Deserved winners.

Daniel Kerr was BOG.

For Sydney, Brett Kirk and Ted Richards were standouts.

Yes, it was a fantastic game, but I think West Coast should have won... they were best all through the season (better than Sydney at least), and controlled the game most of the afternoon. Sydney's fightback was superb, but West Coast deserved the win. Well done.

Sydney won the Qualifying Final by 1 point - 13.7 (85) to 12.12 (84)
This one was won by West Coast by 1 point - 12.13 (85) to 12.12 (84)

Those resuts would be a stats man's dream- you would have had a woody, wouldn't you?

I'm not going to offer much in a way of words, other than we didn't really deserve it even if it was by just one point. Barry Hall had the biggest stinker of any top player in a Grand Final I've seen.

Big Bazza had the worst game I've seen him play. Had the fumbles all day. Really feel for him. :( But he wasnt the only one.

Shouldn't have played last year so his luck ran out.

it was a fantastic game just like last years and the last few clashes between these two clubs.

i thought big cox had to be BOG myself.

a good effort by the swans to get back into the game, they cost themselves dearly by missing sitters, but on the otherhand west coast should have been further ahead with the dominance they showed over the ground.

the team with the most class won.

Great game!!!!!

Thought best players were very even and had to pick, Had Judd best early, Cousins had a great 2nd quarter. Cox was good with kerr. Thought Schneider and Buchannen 1%ers were great and helped get the Swans back into it.

Well played Swans, only team in the comp that could have come back from 5 goals down against the WC.

Best team/side over the year won....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It was a great grand final one of the best ever but not the Best ever. I still feel that the 1989 grand final still beats it because the 89 grand final had it all a chasing bunch of cats, fights, dipper playing with his broken ribs it makes me wanna watch that grand final again.

Best GF yet!! It was the greatest last 1/4 of footy, if Sydney had won it I think the Eagles would of been hammered with the choke tag.
Kerr/Cox BOG for WC and how good was I think it was Jude Bolton is last 1/4.
Next year could well be another rematch of these teams as they still have young sides.

Congratulations to the West Coast Eagles, a gutsy win in a truly great Grand Final. These two sides can really put on a show. Sydney reminded me of Geelong in the 1990's during that first half, giving away goals, fumbling the ball and looking as nervous as all hell. I was quite surprised to be honest.

Barry Hall sucked. No wonder his head was low after the game. I can recall of course other players who had stinkers on the day and unfortunately they are all Geelong players. Bairstow and Stoneham in 92, Hocking in 94 and well, everyone in 95. Another year over and I HATE grand final time but jeez what a match.

REB's Granny Rating (since 1987)

1.1989 (Ablettorama and the Dermott Dump)
2.2006 (Revenge of the Weagle)
3.1997 (The Jarman show and the utter despair of Saints fans as the match gradually slipped away)
4.2005 (The emotion of the Swannies breaking their flag drought. Any Cat fan could identify....and dream
5.2002 (The battle of attrition with the Pies almost pulling off a mighty upset)

The worst

1. 1995 (The Cats were 90 points down in that last quarter and got some junk time goals. Had to listen to HG and Roy's bullshit too)
2. 2000 (The inevitable Essendon procession)
3. 1988 (Biggest flogging in Grand Final history. A real fizzer)
4. 1994 (West Coast at their peak against a Geelong side that staggered through to the Granny with plenty of half fit players. Ack!)
5. 1991 (West Coast v Hawthorn at of all places, Waverly..a really anti-climatic Granny when you consider the pulsating Geelong v St Kilda final that kicked off the finals that year).

Now bring on the Poms!!
