people have short memories, another pre season under his belt and games from the start, who knows what could happen. he could be back to his best . give him another year for sure.... hopefully he works hard over the summer and he'll b back. worth the risk i would have thought.

Can I qualify my earlier post,

All things being equal I would like to see Trent Hentschell stay on the AFC's list but I fear due to the nature of his injury and how it has reduced his athletic ability and the fact the crows will be carrying another forward on their long term injury list for 2009 - a harsh decision will be made.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I would've rather seen Hentschel get a 1 year deal than Burton.

I guess it comes down to having all the information which none of us have, but I reckon he's worth another year especially with Burton out for at least the 1st half of next season. However, the Crows will also be wanting to maximize their draft picks this year because of the concessions.

Last I heard Burton hadn't accepted the offer yet, has that changed?

I suspect Burton may risk himself on the draft, or seek a trade, trying to get a longer contract.
But given this injury, and his earlier fitness difficulties, I suspect he wouldn't find many takers for a high salary multi-year contract.

No thanks. Brown's future fitness has to be questionable. Best to develop juniors, rather than make the "Carey" mistake again..

Brown is 26. Hentschel and Gill are both 25 and their future fitness is not questionable? What a ridiculous statement. Brisbane would laugh at such a poor trade offer

What if the Crows throw in Mcgregor as well??  You still wouldn't do the trade if you were Leigh.

Should he be offered another contract? Yes.

Will he be offered another contract? No.

His knee may have come up well but the rest of his body has shown 2 years out of AFL football and the training requirements that go with it are too much for him to handle.Horrible injury and sad if he is lost to the game.

With Burton missing a year and getting back towards the end of 09,Porplyzia looking to be hampered by regular injuries (the shoulder re-con may help that, may) can Adelaide afford to keep Hentschel on the list? I dont think so.This draft is very important to get some quality youth before the GC and Western Sydney sides come in and I dont think clubs can afford to carry blokes who at best may only play a handful of games.

I would give him another year. Biglands is gone and they'll probably axe burton and god time is up for Jerhico. SO I would say keeping him on for another year would be worth the risk.

They've already offered burton another contract.

Im no expert on the Crows players but I would have thought Hentschel at match fitness would be miles ahead of Gill. Gill has had, and will have, his good games, but is too hit and miss.

You are right but the question is, will Trent ever get fully fit again?

Good to see reports that Trent is back and hasnt missed a training. His soft tissue injuries last year were due to lack of pre season so with a solid pre season under his belt i can see him lining up for the crows at CHF come round 1.

Just thought I'd resurrect this one ... where is Trent's future at now?

Surely his AFL career is over now unfortunately.

I will note that after his horrific injury, the fact the man can walk, let alone run, or even contemplate playing top level footy is amazing.

I would be very surprised if Trent gets another contract, very unfortuante for him...

i'm sure the crows will provide him a new role within the club
