Barry Hall Quits Swans

Talk on the national game

With all the incidents he was involved with, we wouldnt of won a premiership without him, kicking 80 odd goals and handing off dozens of others with his unselfish play, he will be missed, taking the best defender every week. The start of the end was unfortuanately the 2006 GF when he had a shocker. Still and always be a premiership captain.

You have to be kidding. He was actually more disciplined after he trasferred to the Swans. It has only been the past couple of years he has returned to the bad old Saints days.

Id agree with an earlier post that the 2006 GF was the start of his decline, Sydney saved him from wasting his talent as he didn't perform to his maximum at the Saints, reckon someone like the Dogs will punt on him for 2010.

No offence but i wouldn't want to take the bloke on in the ring, he has been doing muay thai kick boxing for over 10 years and has a mentality to match.
The bloke can handle himself very very very well.

Normally people who take on those type of self defence activities show marked improvement in their anger mentality, hasn't worked in this bloke then.

Obviously you have never watched the 1998 Semi Final against melbourne at the MCG.

  WTF? The guy is a gutless thug. Great men don't hit people when they aren't looking. Hall is goose and a coward. Good riddance to him.

PS - before people point out i am a Hawthorn supporter and one of the supposed greats of the Hawks is Leigh Matthews who is guilty of pretty much the same things as Hall, fact is i don't hold Matthews in very high regard either.

Bravo. I've never seen a Hawk fan say something like that about Matthews. It the same sort of way I feel about Ablett Snr now. He was my idol during the eighties and early nineties but I now realise his sublime skill on the field is match by his total ineptitude off it.

We have Playfair who showed a bit of promise at Geelong, but is injured at the moment
Johnston who is only young and injured at the moment
Veszpremi young player who did well last season and only has played a handful of games this season
White who looks like a player that will turn into a very good footballer imo.

O'Loughlin and Hall gone by the end of the year will leave a big hole to fill in our forward line

You'll never make a footballer out of Hank Pidge. Playfair has a crack, you can't fault him for that but he has several flaws in his game. The main one is his inability to keep his feet when the ball hits the deck. He still kicks like a Cat too.

LMFAO, was he scared of kicking for goal when he played FOR ANOTHER CLUB in the first one?

Bit hard to have a shot for goal when you can't get a kick...

Yes .... it's almost as rare as finding a Geelong supporter who has anything positive to say about Hawthorn. :)

To go through a whole league season without recording a single victory is a remarkable achievement. Full credit to the Hawks as they have managed this twice. ;)

I call a spade a spade and Matthews was a dirty sniper. No denying that. A very very talented player that should never have needed to stoop to the level he did. At least if he was going to belt a bloke he could've done it when they were looking. Great player, great coach, bad bloke.

Does anyone have a youtube link to the Robran-Matthews "incident" .It seems to grow 10% worse each year. Was it a headbutt to the knee?
