its all person opinion, but bicks led the crows to back to back flags, and he was the last person drafted to the crows original list but the first to make the HOF. there is a lot of people who are in the HOF that people dont think deserve it. well done bicks

Well if someone see no difference between someone who is an All Australian, a Club B & F (in a premiership side) and won a Norm Smith Medal between someone who hasn't done any of those things, in which a very small percentage of AFL footballers have acheived, i dont know what i can do to help them.

You're right - most players captain 2 premierships, represent their state, play International Rules and play 13 seasons for 272 games

I mean it's just an average career at the end of the day. About in the middle of the road. Come back to us when you've played at least 275 games of AFL footy and held the premiership cup up 3 times.

Spot on

As Bat Pad says - almost EVERYONE who's ever been an AA or won a B&F should be in there. That's the criteria. Bicks = GET OUT! Matthew Connell = come on down.

(I did see the ;) but couldn't resist)

To me it sounds like the selectors were thinking, "those South Australians are always complaining we don't recognise the Croweaters who should be inducted....what we'll do is induct a 2 x premiership captain from the Crows, that will shut them up, how could they complain about that, they'll think he's most deserving" ....... but ironically enough this is quite a stuff up on the AFL's behalf because the majority of South Australian football supporters from what i can tell, including Crows supporters, disagree with this.

OMG

Now we are getting ridiculous

How about this one? The SANFL paid off the selectors to pick Bicks. Yeah, that's it. Or, they thought how can we best pi$$ of the Port Adelaide supporters .... mmm? Bicks, yes Bicks will do. Good one.

Sounds more feasible than inducting him on the basis of his playing career

In the past I've been quick to bag him but credit where's credits due Rucci's articles are top notch in todays 'Tiser about big Supe.

It is also refreshing to see SANFL photos where background players are named and to a lesser extent the main subject of the photo is correctly identified when they aren't a Crows/Power player.

From a journalistic point of you, you have to admire the spin and fictious prose of The Rucc vis-a-vis justifying Bickleys inclusion in the HOF!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Come on. Kemp was AA once and B&F once. If that's your criteria show me an Ayres or an Ablett, etc with a string of them on their resume and then make your case. I'd have no answer to you.

Kemp was only ever a co-captain (in 1 year), never a premiership captain. Quality player for sure, but don't try to paint a picture that there's this VAST difference between their respective records.

I am not trying to question Kemp's career, I am just trying to point out that you can make cases for and against any player if you are going to nit-pick it on things like 1 B&F v none. We can all argue about it for another 3 hours but Kemp, Brown and Bickley will all still be in the HOF and we'll be still be sitting behind our computer screens thinking about how far off we were from ever playing 1 AFL game, let alone 200+.

The 2 time premiership captain was obviously the clincher. We could argue whether that is equivalent to Kemp's 1 AA and 1 B&F until the cows come home.

Bickley was a good footballer and fortunate enough to captain two premiership sides. Is he worthy of induction to the Hall of Fame? No. That honour should only be offered to the true legends of the game. I've never heard the name Bickley associated with the word legend. No doubt he would be proud of the honour but I reckon a touch embarrassed too...
