Round 10 - Sturt v Central @ Unley (Mon 8/6)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Jun 01, 2009 2:49 pm

So a battle for top spot on the public holiday Monday at House Brothers Oval in Unley.

For me, I think the Dogs showed some concerning signs in terms of skill errors and recovery from turn overs, while the Double Blues have been playing patchy footy but still winning comfortably.

At this early stage, I think Sturt by 3 or 4 goals in a tough one.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and pick Sturt by over 100 points! I think my record as an expert coach in AFL DreamTeam (despite my 1-6 win/loss record at present, just easing into the season folks) says I should be on the money...

Its a long shot, but I'm going for it... last time I did such a prediction was the 1998 Grand Final, I went to the ground and put a few bucks on Sturt 100+, didn't work out that day either... but in all seriousness, this shapes up to be a class match, its a real chance for Sturt to show that its the real deal.

For me, with what I've seen this year, I think Sturt is the No.1 contender for Centrals. By years end, I hope that's still the case, but admittedly Glenelg are abouts and may get going soon and with their win on the weekend, there's certainly a chance that Torrens may be in the mix.

Not to sure about anyone else after that... can only hope that the Panthers get their act together and hand the Magpies the spoon, not because I hate the Magpies, it would just be sorta funny! :-)

it will be a good test for the Sturt boys to see how far they have come so far. Centrals will be fired up to bounce back, it will go to the wire with the margin being 1-12 points.

This week can't go quick enough for me, this is going to be a cracker of a game and hopefully gets a crowd of 6-7000. Doggies will be rabid after their loss to the INJURY riddled Eags, hehehe, so Sturt will have to be tough at the ball and on target with their skills. Not too often that the Doggies drop 2 in a row.
Also looking forward to Sturt giving the Gowans boys more reason to argue between themselves again like last week, talk about Laurel and Hardy! LMFAO

The Gowan boys remind me of Bill and Ben the Flower Pot Men especially with the high pitched voices. After they finish up with footy I am sure they will go on the comic circuit. They are certainly entertaining to watch

A good test for Sturt and while the Dogs have been off a little of lately, I expect them to prevail ... margin 25 points.

Sturt, and I think fairly easily actually. Worth a thought of Sturt 39+. Midfield turnovers like last week will make Chambers' day with Sturt's skills. And with Hardy possibly not up to speed playing a fast leading forward he might get exposed somewhat.

a real tough test for Sturt this week, Central will come out firing after getting done by the Eagles and wont want to lose 2 on the trot
it will be interesting at the selection table for Sturt, is McLeay fit, will Thurstans line up for power, will Benny Nelson make a long awaited return after three games getting some match fitness in the twos, and interestingly he was named best player against Norwood

should be a cracker and if the weather is fine there should be a bumper crowd
