Hentschell - Long Term Injury list Questions

Postby Dutchy » Sat Sep 16, 2006 3:29 pm

Was thinking about this last night -

Hentschell we know wont play next year but the Crows will keep him on their list. Now can he be replaced by a rookie next year as they no doubt will put him on the long term injusry list? If so the rookies they put on are not only competing to be put on the rookie list but for a spot on the full list by default of Hentscell's injury.

However I would have thought that the long term injury list is for injurys that occur during the 2007 season? can someone confirm this? or doesnt it matter?

If this is the rule then the crows are wasting a spot on their list by carrying Hentschell for the whole year...would they consider delisting him and picking him back up in the 07 draft for 2008? this way they can have a full list...

they could be at a disadvantage before a ball is bounced in 07....does anyone have answers to the above?

Interesting question.
Rookies have been elevated quite often lately due to long term injuries, which in a way is unfortunate. I'm not sure about the ruling and whether a rookie is allowed to go on the full list next year. I think they should be able to...

The rule regaring long term injuries is not season specific, the crows will list Trent's injury as not available until 2008, this will allow the club next year to promote a rookie to the senior list

It's a good rule, it gives the clubs flexibility, most importantly it protects the injured player, it gives them more job security, otherwise we would have clubs axing players if they sustain long term injuries

OK - so thats means the rookies arent only competing for a spot on the rookie list bu the best one will be put on the full list for the whole year.

Dont agree that it means clubs will keep them on their lists - they still have the power to delist them if they want...

Dutchy, not sure what you mean ?, clubs have the power to de-list all players on the list

at the end of the day, if the rule was not in place, clubs could be forced to axe players like Hentchel, we definitely do not want that to happen, we have a duty of care obligation to these players, it is a win-win situation, it's not like the crows can put Trent on long term injury status and draft Bradshaw, we are talking about a rookie replacing Trent, their is no real advantage to be gained

Hentschell wont play next year right? If he can be replaced by a rookie cause he will be on the LTI list, the rookies that get selected next year will be competing to have a full year on the senior list - a huge carrot for them over the pre season I think.

they could delist him, all the LTI list gives them is an option...thats all im saying

DELISTING him would be a cruel blow and soul destroying and we don't want our game to be that brutal
