Salter will return in the 2s next week and will obviously need a run.....

they will make a huge difference to our forward line when match fit and injury free.......

Mad Dog McGregor then becomes the wild card even more so......

Mitch Banner will only improve on that hit out.....

Passador needs a lot more runs in the two's he has a bigger truning circle than me on one leg ;)
Kenny Mac works well once but not once he is let out of a bag ie see the second wests game.
And Banner what a goal he kicked from 55 out .That and just getting the ball forward be it by foot or hand .Which is what the Eagles did in the last quarter big high kicks to kenny mac and Westbrook (3 on 1 in a pack out marked all those dogs defenders)

I still think Dawson ,Cheep,Rimmington need to be ins next week. How can Rimmington miss again he was playing like a man possessed yesterday in the two's.

Come again???

This was the second game between the two teams this year .Round 1 centrals won by 9points .and of course Eagles won yesterday

LOL, yep worked that bit out already thanks ;)

... but what about the quip that the Bays, Sturt and North can't beat the Dogs?

Bays & north didn't beat either the dogs or the Eagles on their last attempts .Sturt on the other hand I think could very well do it .Sturt should not do what Bays,North and Centrals (did yesterday).Miss easy shots in front of goal all be it some of Norths were from the boundary line .Sturt are a very good side hate saying that .
Now how do the Eagles beat West Adelaide thats the interesting question .

If the Eagles win the GF then you will get well done Ron.We tend to beat Centrals in the H&A games come finals times its a different story.
Eagles still need players to come back in the forward line plus still need to work out the correct team selections .It was more the Kenny Mac magic marking and goal kicking show in the last quarter that and getting the ball forward from the centre breaks.

Villis donuts I prefer the BBQ myself ;)

Don't deny your logic but it's the perceived arrogance of the original statement by Grahaml that I'm highlighting.

Interesting dynamics with some of the teams at the moment.

The Dogs are currently not troubled by the Bays.
Sturt are a danger to the Dogs.
The Bays have won the last few against Sturt.
The Eagles can trouble the Dogs on their day.
The Bays struggle against the Eagles.
The Blues thrashed the Eagles on their last meeting.
... and then there's North.

But of course this means nothing the next time they play each other!

A good example of this was in '76, when the Bays beat Sturt in their last home & away match, then again in the Qualifying final, only to lose to them (by 7 points IIRC) in the Prelim ... and we all know what happened to Port in the GF.

I think you may find the faithful have been calling on here and in the real world for Cica's inclusion for a while.that selection helped with the win.

Hell even I said to CD at half time Kenny Mac to FF mind u I said in the third term not the fourth .

Ron has done a great job with the club .
What would u like Dogger mate the board to say Ron has their support .hang on thats what AFL clubs do just before .....

Pretty sure that Ron looks at this forum before his team selections aswell..... Its amazing how we always hear about the selections that helped win the game... never the ones which dont.... I have a mate who always wins on the punt and I cant help but wonder why he is still driving that car he bought when we were in High School..... Seems the same with your selections Micky!!! ;)

Where were you eagle fans...playing the top team and this is all you can manage.

About 500 eagle fans the rest would have been dogs fans.

PS...Dogs were pathetic congrats to the Eagles for taking advantage of that.

Then there were about 4 four Eagles staff who were at the u18s game at Elizabeth that weren't counted in this figure.

it was a great contest to watch, agree with most that when the game was there to be won mcgregor was the match winner, i liked mackenzies game especially early & for those that spoke about the mark it clearly bounced/hit the ground as gowans was rolling over although i've seen them paid before.....did anyone notice anything at the ball up from that incident ? a very lucky boy i think

Grahaml wrote:Well, thought for the first 3 quarters the dogs were the better side in the contests, but skills and turnovers killed us. Then in the last, instead of the skills coming good the Eagles started to win those contests and that was the difference. I thought it was a terrible display by the dogs. Stacks of turnovers, plenty of dropped marks (aside from the ones in the stats, Schell would normally have taken a few more) and some goals missed we should have done better one. Not sure the Eagles will take much more than the 2 points away from the game. Surely they won't be thinking that standard will be good enough, but perhaps they will be happy to get some personnel back and will be looking for improvement along the same lines as the dogs.

Was good to see Hayes and Callinan back, even if neither looked sharp. Schell needs a fair bit more footy before he's back to his best. Hopefully Williams and Griffin recover in time for next week, thereafter they should get a decent break with the bye, unless Griffin plays AFL (hard to imagine given how sore he looked late today though). We missed M. Westhoff terribly today so hopefully that sounds a warning that we're possibly a little too reliant on AFL players to fill a key forward post. Danny Havelberg's return appears vital.

Anyway, well played to the Eagles in the last 15 minutes when the game was up for grabs. Thought nobody deserved it until then, but McGregor in particular really stepped up when needed. 2 vital points, given other finals aspirants may lose points all their points to Centrals for the Eagles to be 1-1 after 2, other sides will go 0-2 you'd think. Could be a very important factor when it comes down to deciding the top 3 and even the top 5.

Would generally agree with that GL, other than I think you need to give the Eagles credit for their desire to stay in the contest and have a scrap which must have been a big turn around from the last couple of weeks.

I think that is actually high praise, FlyingHigh, I've never seen so much acknowledgement to another side from Grahaml yet. ;)

LMAO!!

If you have watched Central in their last four outings (eagles, port, west, norwood) they haven't been very impressive at all.

Sturt have been playing very well and winning comfortably.

Add to that the last few performances by the Dogs at unley oval, i would say the bookies may have Sturt as favourites just.
