Talk on the national game

Daniel Motlop

Postby the joker » Fri May 22, 2009 4:39 pm

For those who dont watch fox sports news, this video is worth watching, the guy is a freak i dont know how he does it. the goals he kicks are out standing a goal from behind the goals at alberton and a flick up and volley that Christiano Ronaldo would be happy with.

I loved the 360 spin he put on when Josh Hunt ran into him. Great stuff by the 'superstar'.

He looked like a real superstar yesterday hobbling around pretending to be mortally wounded,..... then doing nothing but hanging around anyone getting a kick on the 50 metre arc hoping for a handball so he could have a pot shot !!
Followed by him returning to the field late in the game in hope of some junk time goals.... definitly a front runner...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

I agree with you unknown source.

Motlop is the biggest front runner in the comp. Body language is woeful..

However - blessed with amazing skill.

I understand criticism that comes from those who dont watch him week in week out at the game.

On TV he may look shoulders down and hands on hips however if you go and watch him live much of his chasing is done off the ball/out of shot and I know he regularly gets his efforts set as the bench mark for our other forwards to aspire to. Unless you see him live on several occasions this would be hard to pick up.

To suggest he is a 'front runner' is ill informed, nothing less.

Close enough to selfish, I guess. I disagree though.

Forwards are paid to kick goals and to kick goals they need the ball, he demands the ball as he should ( when he is the right option ) I agree he at times is not the right option and should not be asking for it.

Davis,Johnson,Didak,Rioli all attempt to kick the absurd goal at times, does that make them selfish?

If Motlop is selfish I would like someone to explain to me how/why?

Everyone except you. ;)

While the video had a big WOW factor a bigger factor is the ability to come out and get a kick the next week. Maybe if he couldn't kick goals from the fourth row he might do a little better on some of the simpler aspects of the game. At least Aker walked the walk on Friday night.

Poor example from Hawthorn. Rioli often looks to give the ball off when he should in fact be having a shot. A better example from the Hawks to make your point would be Franklin.

Also Johnson, I assume you mean Steve, shanked a kick on Friday night looking to pass off to a team-mate when he would have been quite entitled to have a shot.
