I think his point suggests everyone else thinks St.Kilda are the only quality opponent and REB doesn't think they are.

Therefore, he figures (as do I ) that Geelong have no real threats this year, bar themselves and a few rushed behinds*. ;)

Right you are! Damn split round always gets me as my fixture at work doesn't have dates on it!
Well that was a waste of a conversation, thanks for putting me/us straight!

yeah i was going to make the point about the split round as well. but BOOHOO anyway, it is the first time the cats leave Victoria since round 4 that is 7 weeks, West Coast and Freo Travel to Melbourne almost every second week.

And there is no way they will go undeafeated through 09, they have a tough draw in the next 9 weeks, 2 perth trips (freo shoul have beat them there last year, but Pav hits the post) and a Gabba trip, they play the three other top 4 teams from last year, Port who are currently in the top 4 and who are the last team to beat the cats at Skilled. i expect the cats to be around 19/3.

Everyone is talking about the Saints Vs Cats game,

But i am looking forward to the Cats Vs Blues game in round 19.

Why? A tired young outfit at the end of a long season up against a side prepping itself to take the flag they missed out on last year. Murder I tell ya, murder.

Yeah Im looking forward to the Saints game personally, heading over for that one.
Blues game looks appealing too, might mark that one down also.
Been very slack this year as our full family Melbourne membership has gone to waste so far but an unexpected 2 week trip to Phuket will do that! ;)
(ironically when the Cats played in Adelaide!)

yeah port beat the cats at home, but that day geelong rested 4-5 players so were always going to be vulnerable and they almost stole the win

" Potential match ups"

Judd V Ling - Great match up
Gibbs V Bartel - Bartel....
Stevens V Corey - Corey...
Murphy V Ablett - Ablett.....
Fevola V Scarlett - Who the Fev knows

Dont get me wrong, I rate the Blues young mid field but come 3 weeks from finals I think the Blues could be well placed in the bottom half of the 8 and the Geelong juggernaut will be flying...I agree it could be a good match up but the Blues are vulnerable at the back and Geelong IMO will carve them a new one.

Judd V Ling - Judd but with reduced effectiveness
Gibbs V Bartel - Bartel....
Stevens V Corey - Corey...
Murphy V Ablett - Ablett.....
Fevola V Scarlett - Scarlo with Fev to crack the sads
J Selwood v Kade Simpson?
Kelly v Scotland?
Ottens (sheesh, hopefully) vs. Kreuzer OTTOMAN
Chapman vs.....???
S Johnson vs....???

They are an improving side but they don't bat all that deep. Carlton only play us once a year so unlike, say Collingwood they haven't had as many cracks at us to refine their style against us.

No, my point was that Geelong fans have been hearing that tired 'who have you beaten' line for three years but if you play a shit granny suddenly you're not that good. According to the ladder there are only two teams of quality. By ladder position we have beaten the Lions who are ranked 5th and haven't lost to ANYONE in 2009. You can't do much more than that surely?
