I'm not condoning the incident - I can't really comment about it as I didn't see what happened but enough is enough. The incident was reported - he will appear at the tribunal and we'll see what happens next.
i don't think you'd appreciate one of your bays players singled out like your doing to shirls. This sort of incident is well and truly outside of his character in fact I consider him one of the fairest and cleanest players in the comp.

I have mentioned that Robbie Spearley is a fair player and this is so uncharacteristic for him
Coach Andy Collins has made some scathing comments in todays Sunday MAiL
On face value it looks like a 6 week suspension
It was a careless tackle by Robbie Spearley
But becoz Spearley has been a fair footballer for a long time about 3 weeks would be suffice
Thiele has posted that Robbie Spearley has contacted Fisher which is a very good guesture
Its was a regrettable incident and unfortunately Spearley must be suspended
The SANFL needs to set a precedent
Bayman was irate and became extremely vocal at Shirley
Not one Eagles supporter or any supporter in the crowd retalliated against Bayman
That would suggest that almost all EG supporters knew that Spearley did a bad bad thing
Ive had this discussion with Smac [ PA V CD Butcher/Mccabe]
If a child saw this
How does a parent explain to his child what happened
Could this sway the child away from Footy to another sport ?
An elderly lady in front of Bayman and I was very concerned seeing this
She was concerned at the incident
She turned around to us and said
" Can you imagine his mother seeing this."
I can see this thread going this way
WA supporters having a go at Spearley
EG supporters trying to divert this incident to another incident involving WAs Morris[a fair bump]
EG supporters saying its a mans game and this is part and parcel
NUETRAL supporters[As i am] will no doubt condemn Spearleys action
EG are running out of players now
Perhaps Robbie Spearley when suspended can be replaced by Jason Spher...

The whole 'Spearly' thing is so lame.
I would suggest the elderly lady hasn't been to many football matches pre-1990's if she's seriously worried about that incident over what happened in the 70's and 80's. But, I think that she was most likely referring to a mother who watches her child get injured in any situation on the football field - not just that incident.
The hysteria, driven by you, that says would this send a person to another code? Well, injuries happen in all sports and in most there is a chance that someone can get hurt if someone breaks the rules. Shirley broke them and will be punished. If someone moves codes because of it, after he has been dealt with by the tribunal then sh*t happens.
I take back my imbecile comment in relation to you but would add that you should be careful generalising in these circumstances because the way you see this thread ending up couldn't be further from my feelings.
I'll add here that Collins comments were interesting..... Commenting on cases before the tribunal??? Poor form..... Leave it to us experts on this forum!
