At the moment I think the Crows main problem is decision making players running towards goal are handballing to flat-footed players under pressure. I lost track of the times running out of the backlines a player handballed to someone with their back to the crows goals and a player within a metre of them.

I guess it could be put down to panicking under pressure, but when you hear Neil Craig saying that the quick handballing is part of their game plan, and you see players with the experience of McLeod and Edwards committing these skill errors as well it begs the question is the game plan suited to the skill level of the squad

I think you will find that the way we played yesterday was a different game plan to what we have been playing with. Im pretty sure craigy said something in his press conference that the run and carry handball out of defence will improve because we have oly practiced it this week. It is the best way to break the zones of teams and look at geelong thats how they play they run carry and take risks via hand then hit a lead up target. We havent quite got it right but it will come.... there is always next week to put into action after another week working on it on the track.

Game plan or not everyone knows you don't handball to a stationary target who is under pressure I'm sure the game plan doesn't call for that.

That gameplan works for Geelong because they have the skill level and calmness under pressure to make the right decision. Also they are able to wrap players up in their tackles and also break tackles. Bigger bodies of Geelong allow this, Van Berlo, Douglas etc. can't break these tackles. Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Kelly can.

yeah we did make a few bad decisions but that happens and will be fixed up..... i think to much is focused on the negatives and this season it should be on the positives. When we did move the ball properly by hand we hit lead up targets including walker and tippet so i think although its what cost us the game with the turnovers(and lack of intensity in the 2nd half) it did work so they can do it and in time will improve it

Actually Riewoldt has been around for 8-9 years CP, debuted against the Crows in 01, but the point stands about the mature bodies and decision making. Agree it's the hardened Geelong bodies that enable them to stick their tackles and get out of trouble playing the high risk fast paced style.

Crows don't have that at present, it was frustrating to watch yesterday but as expected some short term pain. I just hope we have patience and persistence to keep getting better at it.

Far out  Where have those years gone?? lol

Back in 2007 the commentators used to regularly remark about how much bigger physically the Crows looked than any other team .. Certainly can't say that now and as most of us have said, it's really a waiting game now.

I wish supporters would have a bit more appreciation for the process rather than just tagging along for any successful period at the end of it. Watching these kids start out and learn their craft, gradually maturing until they're able to threaten is part of what can make success so fulfilling. Remembering those special games and moments from guys like Walker, Dangerfield and Mackay in their early years. If this emerging group does manage to lift the cup down the track, certainly I'll look back on things like that and appreciate that I was able to see the team grow and improve before finally scaling the mountain; it'd make a flag that much sweeter. Really hope Craigy and his team can do it!

Great post FD88!

At the start of the year i wasnt expecting the crows to finish in the top 4! If you look at the list of young players coming through I would expect us to finish in the Top 4 in 2011! if you look at the young kids that we have coming through,
Walker
Tippett
Petrenko
Cook
Dangerfield
Otten
Brodie Martin and Rory Sloan will be guns!
Gallman
Douglas
Makay
Vince
Van berlo
Knights
Maric/Griffen - Big guys always take longer to develop, With Matt Clarke coaching them, got no doubts they will become good tap ruckman, look what he has done with Tippett in such a short time!
I have probably missed a few, but i rekon Craigy has a great core of young kids to build around for the next few years. Add Rutten, Bock, Johncock, Thompson, Porps, Reily, Burton, Hentshel (unlikey due to injury) as the senior players, the team will stack up not to badly IMO.

Even thats too early imho, or a best case scenario if all the planets aligned .. I'd suggest 2013 is probably more realistic.

I found it interesting crows fans felt the need to "boo" former crows premiership player scott welsh everytime he got near the ball.
Scott's crime was to accept a longer termed contract with another club.

Nathan Bock on the other hand. Beats his missus but if you "boo" him it is deemed as inappropiate, and you wonder why people call crows fans <trolling>.

Well said FD88- as a hawks fan it was sometimes tough watching some floggings (particularly at footy park!) but was good to watch the young guys improve as they went on...they were the days when any win was recorded and watched ad nauseam as you didnt know when the next win would come! buddy, lewis, roughy etc werent guns when they started...you gotta get game time into them.

crows fans only ones dumb enough to compain about opposition fans booing their player for assaulting a female. Which from memory people over the last decade have gone to jail for.

but in the same breathe boo an x-player for the massive crime of leaving their club for a longer termed contract.

Have you ever heard of the expression "hypocrites". Ya <trolling>.

Dont compain about people abusing the disgrace that is Nathan Bock again.

What fans have complained..... some have said it was in bad taste as he will receive whatever punishment he deserves in court. A few people booing an ex player is a thing that happens all the time and normally no real emphasis is put behind it.
