Ronny Fuller totally outcoached.
Why they didnt give the Sturt forwards the respect they deserved in the 2nd/3rd quarters I have no idea.

I'll bet any of you who chose Eagles in the Slaughter Comp wouldn't have done so if you knew that McKenzie, Treeby and Shirley would be missing from the side today. Even so, if they were in there, we still would have lost today, but definitely not by that much. Chambers was given great delivery by the dominant Sturt midfield, but he also judged the ball better and had brilliant hands. McGregor was put forward again in the third, and kicked the first goal of that term but this was a different proposition.

Sturt really were terrific today and Chambers unstoppable. They won every position on the ground and completely outplayed the Eagles. It was a complete performance by Sturt and I'm not sure they would have had too many easier wins than that.

The Eagles faced a reality check. The fact is, a few injuries to key players and we're not up to standard. There is only so many sub-standard league players you can carry in a team. We could not handle the pressure (both perceived and actual) Sturt put on us.

I thought only Broadbent, Dabrowski and Fiacchi could hold their head high and to a lesser extent Allmond, Stewart, Westbrook and McGregor didn't stop trying.

The reserves also got thrashed. A bad day for the Eagles. I'm not sure why Cicolella was playing reserves, especially with Treeby, McKenzie, Daniel and Shirley pulling out before the game. He must have done something undisciplined at training. Would like to know the answer, because if it was just purely for form, the selectors should be sacked.

It now becomes about next week.

the Eagles were a rabble, had no heart, put no pressure on the Sturt ball carriers, could barely lay a tackle. Clearly they are not playing for their coach anymore.

A sensational performance from the Double Blues today. The match had the look of a real tight contest late in the second term when the Eagles were up by a goal, but then Sturt just belted through a series of goals from about the 20 minute mark of the second term and continued on into the third, kicked something like 10 or 12 goals to a single major from Torrens at one point. It was to be fair, a complete rout there for a while and Sturt probably should have won by even more.

But that said the star of the day was Brant Chambers. The delivery was exceptional, no doubt about that, but the man's hands were just sticking to the ball today and he was kicking them from everywhere. I think Chambers finished on 11.5, matching Torrens whole score and for me this was a game where Sturt had to announce itself as either premiership contender again or a finals also ran. After this effort, I'm feeling much more confident that a top three finish is more than likely.

I can see us having a crack at Centrals again come September...

Well done to the Sturt Football Club on their win today - but a little reminder boys premierships are not won in May. By looking at the way Sturt supporters behind the northern goals were carrying on after the game one might be forgiven for thinking differently. A little warning for those in blue ahead of our next battlle against each other though and that is you did only beat an Eagles side at 2/3 of it's best. We had at minimum 7 of our best 21 missing from todays game.

You are exactly the type of Sturt supporter I was warning about in my previous post. Getting just a little too cocky too early I think - wait for the traditional fade it will come at some stage. Don't count out the Eagles, Glenelg or North any of these three could easily knock you out of the chance to play GF day.

With just about every experienced player we have missing today how the hell could cicolella not get a game. Where are all these good young players that fuller claims we have and so we don't need to recruit - all i saw today is a bunch of b grade hacks - hicks and fairclough should never get another game.

FWIW, Sturt had Crane, McLeay, Payne & Nelson out today which are arguably four of our top ten players out.

I think today's Reserves and League results say something about both club's depth of list more than anything else.

the blues were just too good for us today.......

we nearly also lost Jacky to the Crows as an emergency........

I believe the player sheets never got to some officals until 1 min before of the start of the seconds.......

there were about 6 changes to the reserves side also....

so both sides were unsettled with late changes.......

the footy gods weren't with us today.....

Sturt, Glenelg and North are all pretty evenly matched at the moment I think.

Not sure what to think about the Eags after what I witnessed today. Sure they had players out but so did Sturt...Magarey medallist Crane and McLeay (our premier defender) spring to mind, as does Thurstans (who we may as well consider a Sturt player for the time being) and Payne. Sturt supporters dread travelling to Woodville these days, not just because of our poor record there, but because of the sh*thouse outdoor bar facilities and lack of atmosphere. What happened to the beer shed south of the stand!? Having to walk around half the oval to get a beer is piss poor. Having to walk through the family friendly area on the way back is just f.... stupid Regardless of was missing from today's league teams the Eags lacked intensity, will, hardness and dare I say fitness. And there was plenty of youngsters playing in both teams.
