And Glenelg fans can only hope that is the last they'll see of McConnell at league level.

Now Clive has retired from the SANFL - Mcconnell is in a "unique club" all by himself. Lazy, unfit, playing / diving for free kicks no defensive action, never gets a hard ball whilst standing out wide or bludging with his hands waving wildly "kick it to me, kick it to me" in the hope his team mates will actually recognise his team like qualities!

You have to wonder how the Bays fans get excited by "Eddie"? other than the fact the Snouts sponsor him

I can as he's a nice bloke and when he was at his best he can be very entertaining and do the freakish things that get the crowd fired up.
If he could get his form from a couple of years ago back and drop the diving and laziness out of his game he'd be great but its hard to see that happening as he's been in the wilderness for about a year now.
He's also a character and IMHO there can't be enough of those on the footy field!
Perhaps they should try a 'Cupido' with him who has been known to have similar traits and move him down back for a while?
Apologies if thats been tried as I have seen stuff all of the Bays in recent times.
Having said all that a club like Central would never have a place for a player like McConnell and its probably the main reason for their success.

Good question Jabber, I feel none, and its just a troll post.....cause if you had seen him this year you would know he isnt "unfit"

There aint too many 50+ goal small forwards around these days, he will bounce back and bounce back hard

OK, time to come out of the cold ... I've been watching this site for well over a year now without a single post.

I've been following the Bays for well over 30 years and (apart from last week), its great to see the club re-emerging again.

We've gone from an on field joke with no money, to be well on the way to being financially secure and have won back some repect on the field.

Ths is all good stuff, but does this club just want to be competitive, or go the extra mile?

The great players and teams of the 70s and 80s were let down by performances on the final day of the year ...and squandered a big opportunity to create history. 3 flags from the last 15 grand finals isn't particularly a record to be proud of.

But you may say, who cares? (and many will)

Well, for those that are passionate about the black and gold, we now are in the position whereby we don't have the great players of those past years, but a committed team of hard nut triers who are bloody well coached. This team only wins when everyone puts their hand up and can't afford passengers as the result is what happened last week. In years gone by, a few of the great players could win a game on their own, and this happened often.

So who epitimises the Glenelg Footbal Club today ... well IMHO, the likes of Ty Allen, Ben Mules and Luke Panozzo, backed up by team who are not the most skillfull in the league but hard at the ball and never give up (well, almost never).

So where does Eddie fit in? Well unfortunately, I have to agree with Drebin. He's the odd man out. Hell I wish he could get his act together and maybe he will, but now, today, with the depth of the club, he's back to where he needs to be atm.

OK, got that off my chest, time to go back into the cave ...
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

I’m only the administrator of the estate of dedja … my yes be yes, my no be no

Excellent post Dedja, and a sign of a maturing club when they can drop a bloke (who was highly influential a few years back) with a decent name ... I wish our club would do the same rather than allowing the same walk up starts every week.

On the 5RPH League Team Show tonight Zac Milbank from the Advertiser made mention that Port Power have asked the Bays to name Josh Carr on a hlf forward flank for them.

He did go on to say it could be the Power just trying to throw the Crows off because Josh was named as Port's 1st emergency for the Showdown.

cant see mickan being part of a furfy to throw the crows off somehow

Got to agree with Dreben here, Macca either has to change his style of footy, be more of and in and under player and hungry for the cherry or will be finding himself more often playing for 2's. He has been known to be a match winner but needs to be more constant. There is a few good players awaiting selection to league side that IMO would be a better selection choice.
