Here is my suggested side, remembering I think there will be 4 on the bench...

FF: D.Havelberg B.Chambers J.Clayton
HF: T.Gum C.Alleway L.Crane
C: B.Backwell T.Allen P.Thomas
HB: R.Williams D.White D.Meyer
FB: M.McKenzie C.AhChee L.Panozzo
RK: J.Meiklejohn J.Allan C.Gowans
INT: C.Parry J.Gowans M.Wright J.Sheedy

EMG: N.Duigan B.Martin B.O’Hara* C.O’Sullivan*

Thanks Drebin,

A pretty good spine, good on ball rotations, heaps of goal scoring power, plenty of tough nuts and ball winning blokes, some running defenders and great versatility and flexibility with a handful of blokes.

Will be a good side, no matter who makes the final 21/22 but I think that was the best mix of what I mentioned above you could get from the selected squad.

Good side BP, a few changes I would make but you get that with these teams and having so many players to pick from. Duigan did a hamstring at training last week so missed the game against West. I'd say that rules him and he will miss this week as well and then we have the bye.

I would have thought Cupido and Ferguson would at least have been in the squad.
Cupido is obviously out of favour, as his form has been superb.

Ferguson played at the same end of the ground all day yesterday. Kept his opponent just about kickless at CHB and was a good target at CHF. Also an inspirational player.

At this stage, I wouldn't expect Callinan to play because of his hamstring issue and missing the next 3 weeks and great to see Ryan Williams awarded with selection, will surely make the final 22. I am very suprised that Brayden O'Hara and Chad O'Sullivan didn't make the initial squad but in saying that, if they keep in good form, selectors can add to the squad as they see fit.

From the initial squad, there looks as though a good side will be created. Might have a crack at it and see how it compares to my initial predicted squad. Really looking forward to the trip over there, will be great fun and hopefully we will see a big victory for the Croweaters.

To be 2nd on the ladder and to have only 3 reps in the initial squad can be seen only as another snub to the Eagles by the Darel Hart Coaching panel. This is a disgrace but I don't know why I expected any different.

Don't know about that EHL. They do, however, seem to have picked just those players they believe could make the team rather than when they sometimes pick a few youngsters for the experience, and if they were, then Allmond would be included. Who else could they pick from the Eagles, given Broadbent and Salter are on the Power's list?

Who else would be in other than the three picked, and who would you drop out of the squad for the players you will bring in?

There are only so many spots to fill mate.

Glenelg had a better record than the Eags this time last year and only had four representatives in the 2008 squad.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Allmond, Jarrad and McGregor are another 3 that immediately come to mind.

The WA squad at this stage is:-

Claremont: Chad Jones, Ian Richardson, James Thompson
East Fremantle: Kyle Hardingham, Daniel Dalby, Anthony Kyanga
East Perth: Craig Wulff
Peel Thunder: Simon Rosa, Daniel Haines, Danny Chartres, Kain Robins
Perth: Ross Young, Scott Siekerka, Matthew Moody, Aaron Zucconi, Matthew Ferguson, Jarrod Kayler-Thompson
South Fremantle: Jeff Farmer, Jamie Graham
Subiaco: Adam Cockie, Shaun Hildebrandt, Phil Read, Brad Smith, Ben Keevers
Swan Districts: Lewis Jetta, Brett Wolfenden, Brett Robinson
West Perth: Jason Salecic, Andrew Strijk

As a Sandgroper I'm not entirely happy with some of the selections and by some initial 'on-paper' comparison with the SA squad I think we could struggle. However, our forward line should be pretty strong with Brad Smith, ex-St Kilda player Matthew Ferguson, ex-Brisbane Lion Matthew Moody and The Wizz (as long as he doesn't cop a hefty suspension for clocking an East Fremantle player last weekend!). Also Jaymie Graham should give excellent service in the ruck.

I've been asked if I want to work as a trainer for the SA team. Haven't decided if I'd rather be running water on field or sinking piss behind the goals ;)
It's all the SANFL's fault.
