Wedgie has raised this before, and Rod-Rooster suggested the same thing in this thread (I think) ..... I reckon North would look great in white shorts!

I thought it was a Pomeranian x Poodle :D

Seriously though I think the SANFL ones are predominantly alright. West and North need to redo their away guernsey, but that's about it.

Central : Get rid of the away guernsey, worst case scenario wear it in away games v Eagles. We only need one guernsey the Home one!

Bugger, beaten on the first post. :)

That shade of blue has been bugging me for a while, but not nearly as badly as the Hayden Bunton era balls up.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Yeh, what they said!

The first post hit the mark, and the second post hit it harder.
Bring back the 70's era shade of blue! If I was in Oz for the yearly member's meeting I'd bring it up every time.

Most people with half a brain have got it right.

Taking into account that most clubs if not all need to limit the size of the sponsor on top of the following criticisim:

Central - nothing wrong, they incorporate their sponsor into their home guernsey beautifully, away guernsey is a fantastic alternate, only issue is wearing white shorts at home.
Glenelg - currently looks like Miss Gay World with the advertiser sash, if their club had any real proud history they'd have fans up in arms.
North - Vee needs to be higher, red needs to be darker - away top needs to be exact reverse of perfect guernsey, white guernsey with red vee, simple, its not rocket science and looks fantastic. Red guernsey has white shorts, white guernsey has red shorts.
Norwood - pretty good
Port - ugly but traditional
South - needs old style writing, and would be the best guernsey going around if done right
Sturt - as all mention so far (and I used to get abused by Sturt fans for suggesting) needs the 60/70s style of light blue as opposed to the current shiny gay Power turquoise
Eagles - revert to 50s style guernsey, a classic
West - boring but no change needed beside the pre mentioned removal of sponsors

Perhaps it is this choice of words that provokes them? ;)

Personally (and granted I know Im likely to be on my own here), Norwood need to get rid of our away guernsey ... Doesn't avoid the clash with Westies or South like it was claimed it would, and doesn't serve our history at all, pointless IMHO

Agree change the eagle to the old style eagle, that was a great jumper. Todays eagle looks a bit like a cartoon.

I don't mind the yellow jumper, except get rid of the blue V under the eagle.

Here's an idea, wear WT old Eagle jumper at home and a Woodville jumper away. I know it will never happen(one club now and all that).Thou I reckon thats the reason they wont refine the eagle to look more like the old WT jumper.

I'd put the top of the V as high as it would go like the '60's style guernsey, and for the away top I'd just reverse the colours like the '30's guernsey

Sadly lost in the amalgamation, it will only lead to constant fights if it is put back, still it does look awesome when they get it out for Heritage Round, hopefully WWT look into it for the Eagles-South match at Thebby this year!

IMO Centrals best Guernsey is the White one with the Red and Blue stripe running up and down - replete with the Pye Audio sponsors logo of course!

Can't agree on the shorts, blue look horrible with our home guernsey. Blue with the away guernsey would look alright I reckon - perhaps even the old red ones would be good!

I think West will hardly ever wear their 'clash' guernsey anymore and will stick to the traditional guernsey wherever possible from now on.

North used to always wear white shorts at one time, as did West in the days when it had to be only black or white shorts.

Yep. The guernsey that Barrie is wearing in my avatar with white shorts and solid red socks with the white top to the socks. That's the uniform we should be wearing IMHO. Maybe being a bit fussy with this bit but black boots as well would be nice.

Get rid of the stupid stitch up part in the middle of the guernsey, it's a bloody disgrace. I refuse to buy a new Port guernsey from the merchandise van till they get rid of the stitch up crap that serves no purpose other than make the guernsey look like joke. The stitch on the guernsey mearly held the old cotton ones together and even then it was often neatly tied so that it didn't stand out much on the players, so why do they have to continue to glorify something irrelevant? Just look at what the Power did a few years ago when they wore the 1977 premiership guernsey, they didn't put a stitch on that one so why do the Magpies administration see it as important to the guernsey presentation?

That rant's been a long time coming from me...

Nor for a second am I sticking up for the guernsey manufacturers, however I know that matching colours is a difficult job. Kombat of all places couldn't ever get purple in my masters games uniform. To get the blue we had in the 70's would be ideal, but would take some effort from the so called colour matching experts.

I would like to see that Bays wear the gold jumper with the black V that they wore against North a few years back, but not for all away games, maybe when it clashes i.e against Westies etc.,

Given the tight finances at the SANFL clubs I can forgive the amount of advertising on the guernseys

AFL teams get regular prime-time national TV coverage yet most SANFL games are not even shown on TV at all. So if a SANFL club needs to give up more guernsey space to compensate (compared to an AFL team or even another SANFL team) then that's life of an SANFL team in 2009.

I also forgive the alternate guernseys for the same reason. Sticking with only traditional guernsey designs and 1980s style guernsey advertising isn't possible these days for all clubs, rightly or wrongly.

Regardless of the prominence of a sponsor logo it's still the same team and it's still the same 21 guys running around busting their gut to win.
