all i have to say after the game tonight is "i'm very confused!!"

either the pies are an actual threat if they get their bums into gear for more than half a game, or........

the cats are, once again, a class above the rest! can turn it on whenever they like!!!

Yeah agree with that. When the scores where 2.3.15 to 5.8.38 after collingwood and Leigh Brown kicked about 3 points in a row then G.Ablett ran the ball from defense, of to chapman and Geelong ran down the field and kick a goal. Bang that hurt!
Then the run of 7 straight goals started and that killed Collingwood. They lost there run and looked ragged at some stages.

I reckon the Pies should have won last night. Our skipper is out and we've lost our 'small forward' defender Josh Hunt and we were playing a side that has excellent smaller forwards. Our number one ruckman was also out and Josh Fraser has been in excellent form so far this season. Also, this was the first time in the Thompson era that the Cats have ever had to come off a five day break. This is something that Collingwood has far more experience in as they play Essendon in the ANZAC Day match which can fall on any day of the week. Add to that they led by 20 points at quarter time.

If that's vulnerability then look out when we decide to play four quarters again.

Dont get me wrong Reberta, Cats are clear favourites and deservedly so .. I just think the over possessive style they play is one that can be broken down .. Of course whether an opposition is good enough to do so, remains to be seen.

I think Collingwood have already shown, albeit only in very short patches, that constant pressure can bring that game undone - problem is noone's been able to sustain that pressure for long enough periods of time ... Maybe later in the season when players are better conditioned that might not be the case though, who knows?

I suppose all teams are vulnerable when you think about it but all Collingwood showed last night that when two of our best defenders are out as well as our lead ruck they can bring our game undone long enough to lose by 27 points.

losing another away game at the G must hurt 18 games there and 1 from 3.. makes you wonder if they can make the top 4 like they should every year with the draw they get... bring on a home game at the G hey!!

We know we kicked ourselves out of the game against Geelong, and I've stated before that the best Geelong side and the best Collingwood side, Geelong would probably win it, because they've got more players who have played between 80 and 150 games, and that's massively advantageous.
We had a set plan to go into this game with a positive outlook, and 10 shots on goal in the first quarter was a good result. We would've rather kicked 8.2 or 7.3 instead of 5.5 in the first quarter, but it was still very encouraging.
To the boys' credit, outside of Geelong's run during the second quarter, we outscored them 13.14 to 10.11. So we take out of the game a lot of positives. There's still a lot to like about the way we played, albeit we lost by 27 points.
The history of winning games after losing players to injury is very low, and once we lost Ben Johnson, who was doing a wonderful job for us in the middle, he broke his leg, and we also lost Heath Shaw, who was cramping. As a consequence, our normal rotations of between 90-100 were down to 69. Geelong knew this and they were able to throw their brilliant players at us, and they were able to get the ball out of tight situations far better than us.
This Friday night we go in without our captain Nick Maxwell, who has been suspended for two matches, and in our minds it's not worth fighting something that you can't win. We've also lost Heath Shaw, who has been suspended for touching an umpire, and we accept that, and that's the rule, albeit players were last year able to put their arms around umpires. That's a consolidation of the rule, perhaps, that we didn't adhere to.
Brisbane is very confident at the moment having won and won well last week, so we know, coming into this week, we're playing a side at their home, that is 2-1 and we're 1-2, so the pressure's on us to find that winning touch. We obviously have to make changes, and we'll bring in players who are in form.

Fraser needs some help in the ruck theirs no way he can continue solo for much longer, he gets injured its goodnight.
Great effort by the woods tonight, Frasers ruckwork was good & after qtr time they started to win the clearances & dictate to a degree, Pendlebury & Lockyer got on top & Collingwoods forwards were seeing the ball consistantly. Medhurst didn't need alot of touches as the ones he got he made Brisbane pay & was Collingwoods most productive forward. Rocca must be a worry for them he doesn't look damaging at all, he seems to blow up easy after one short attack on the ball which is a sign of lack of fitness, his workrate is non existant, Presty was magnificent when going to Jonathon Brown holding him goal-less.
Overall without a few quality players tonight they showed alot of heart & now need to show it on a more consistant basis.

Josh Fraser- is he a tad over-rated, or just plain over-worked?
I'm really not sure where or how to rate him. He's not a dominate bigman, but more like a tall on-baller. He doesn't instill fear in the opposition like say a Jonathon Brown or a Dean Cox type. He seems to me to be somewhat of an introverted footballer?

on the fremantle banter, i once seen a real good video of just hoe stupid they are, outlining the trades they've done for guys like jeff farmer and trent croad, and a few bad draft picks, but i cant seem to find it any more! i'll keep trying to hunt it down though!
