OK, first timer stupid question # 2 re TRADES:

- say Dayne Beams increases from $100K to $400K by round 10
- but I want to use that $300K to upgrade Joe Bloe $300K to Judd at $600K, and keep Beams

Does that mean I use up 2 trades? ie, trade Beams for a $100K rookie and then trade Joe Bloe for Judd?

Or can it be done with 1 trade because my overall team value has gone up by $300K ... and keep Beams

Does that make sense?

2 Trades Mate.

For example trade Beams (400k) for Mitch Brown (94K)

Then Trade Joe Blogg (300k) for Chris Judd (606K) with the money left over from the Beams trade.

That is the problem with upgrading for a high quality player like Judd or Ablett, nearly every time you use up two trades which is your weekly quota.

Ahh, thanks Pup .... again

I see why they say that loading up on too many rookies is a risky way to go then

Burn up trades doing upgrades leaving less coverage for injuries later in the season?

Yeah that is right. To many people trade heavily early then hit a wall late in the year because of injuries and suspensions. IMO you can survive with a couple of losses early in the piece as long as you can trade when the inevitable rough stage comes around.

Rookies are very handy as bench players and maybe filling one spot in the forward line or backline if you have quality players around them. There will always be rookies who do well ala Cyril Rioli and Joel Selwood. It is just the people who get onto these from the start benefit the most.

How is your side coming along?

I shifted from a high risk approach to a safer one this last few days

But I still have 2 rookies starting, before I had 4.

I am only left now with agonising over which of the premium forwards to go with - can't seem to make a D!

How is yours looking?

Still needs a bit of tinkering but will get that done today. I am in the same boat with the elite players. Trying to decide which midfielders and forwards i want to keep around the 500K+ Mark.

Going to stay away from Ablett with his price tag even though he is the best player in the league. Got a big day of Super Coach ahead!

Alright i am going to throw a question out to the experts. I have one spot left in my midfield and this is the group i have narrowed the choose between with my remaining funds. Who would people pick? I want a reasonable consistent point scorer.

Schammer
Cotchin
Ray
Butler
Vince
Griffen
Ebert

Vince easily.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

So by your figures Vince will the 4th most expensive player in the league by round 10? I doubt that.

Thanks for the 2 opinions although i wonder how much Bias is in them given both of you either obviously follow Adelaide or live there. If none then thats fine and i am by no means having a crack at you. This is my thinking behind these players.

Schammer- Had a cracking Pre Season and had a terrific back end to 2008.
Cotchin- Is Cheap and has unbelievable potential, will it be realised in his second year?
Ray- Also pretty cheap, has under achived at the Dogs but has had a solid Pre Season and will suit the Saints well.
Butler- Riskier but has been run down by injuries and looks like he is finally ready. Very Cheap.
Vince- Probably the favourite like you said, talented and should spend most of his time through the middle.
Griffen- About ready to explode IMO. Has got talent and pace to burn, just may not use the footy well enough for me.
Ebert- Young and talented, will nearly play every game for the Eagles. Could be anything.

Griffen was consistent for me last year but, at the same time, didn't have the games where he'd score a truckload of points.

Cotchin is under an injury cloud. If I had to pick, I'd go with Schammer.

Team required for Division One. The code for the league is

740693

First in first served. Take the opportunity to jump up a divvy and have a crack at Hogg Premier as early as 2010! In 40 minutes Sheedy gets the spot.
