Rd 1 2009 Glenelg v Sturt @ Glenelg

Postby bayman » Fri Mar 20, 2009 6:47 pm

it may come down to whether glenelgs new look defence can stop chambers & co & whether the new look first ruck set up at sturt can create enough chances in the centre, i think the last time sturt beat glenelg was a round 1 match (where's spelly) but i think our on ball brigade will create more chance for us to win

i'll tip glenelg by 3-4 goals

That win was round 2 for Sturt but round 1 for Glenelg. Bays had the bye first up in 2007.

Yep, BIG opening weekend of footy. Port Vs Norwood, Friday night, then backing it up with a trip down to the Bay with mates late Saturday arvo.

Both sides have lost some key performers to even out the balance sheet, but I think the Bays by a few.

I think the bays will prevail in a close one.

Yeah, Jimmy Sellar.

Jimmy Sellar will be lucky to be in Glenelgs lineup, but if he is he wont be on Chambers

LBT..Will the Bays have to play Sellar in the league team for 3 games before they are allowed to drop him to the reserves ?
I feel sorry for the Bays if they do . That rule is a little unfair to SANFL coaches.

He came off the bench in our last trial and played in a couple of spots, i think he will be in the squad but certainly not on Chambers, that would be suicidal. I dunno where Neil Craig wants to see him play but I still think he will develop into a more than handy forward.

When did this rule come in?

I thought the rule was the AFL club couldn't move them to another SANFL club until the player had played 3 Reserves games in a row.

I hope you're right but I doubt it. Quietly confident of a win but it'll be close.

A very interesting game, how will we go without Sherwood, Bode, Allen and Rudolph? How will Sturt go without Feast, Whiteman, Perrie, and Nelson (he's out injured isn't he like Ty Allen - due back in a few weeks)???
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
