I heard someone say the score was about 25 goals to 15 goals or something. Emus kicked what i reckon was the first 10-15 goals of the game tho, and it got closer towards the end. Cheers to Swainy and the Eagles for letting us stay up there for the weekend!

We settled pretty well i thought against an opposition that had played a decent amount more footy than us to date. Our height was a huge advantage and we ran the ball very well with handball and good decision making. Obviously first trial the skills were a little rusty but that will come with more game time.
Missing some very key players to our setup and hopefully most come back for this weekend so we can get a couple of good trials.
Contrary to Yettis thoughts Guitink was very good. 18 months out of the game and when Hams went off in the first couple of mins Gooch crashed packs, created good goalscoring opportunities and kicked a couple himself. Baz then tried him up the ground but the game wasnt using CHF and therefore found himself out of position!
The other trials sound like some good contests! Mclarens put up a good show against Porties, Victor keep marching on and E Bay who knows, some say they lost by a massive amount and others say it was tight.
How did Compass go against Edwardstown on Saturday night??

Being a trial match you wouldn’t really expect many spectators although there was a great showing from both clubs. My tip this year is that the Compass boys will have the best looking partners in the comp going on the turn out Saturday night. The hard training and nights in the gym are obviously paying off in other areas than just the footy field. Well done boys…
Notable inclusion was former Langhorne Creek player Hurn playing for Edwardstown and he used his knowledge of the ground to his advantage. I can’t comment on the make up of Edwardstown’s team and if there were at full strength or not but they seem like a good sized outfit and quite fit. They will obviously do quite well in the SFL this year and I wish them all the best.
Compass was undermanned with some good quality players out of there starting line up. Fromm, A Creek, Hicks, Webb, Bailey, Crate and new players A Creek and Quinny were all absent for various reasons. Was a great opportunity for some young players to show what they have to offer and there was definitely some good signs. In previous years Compass has not had the luxury of depth however now have 30 quality senior players to choose from which will no doubt strengthen up the 2s who incidentally played very well on Saturday night. Veteran Wal entertained the crowd while the younger players ran the ball in numbers and used the ball quite well.
Not sure of the end score although it wasn’t indicative of how the game was played. Both sides hit the ball hard and tackling was definitely a highlight considering it was just a trial. Compass will go into there next night game Thursday 26th against Div 1 team Tea Tree Gully with a strong squad and look to bring together everything they have worked hard on over the pre-season!
