You might be a bit selective on your memory there mate, North and West drew well over 30k for the GF in 91 and on average crowds were a hell of a lot bigger than they are now across the board.
But I do agree there were stuff all Sturt supporters around.

Central v Port was also a huge crowd in the GF. The one I was at was well over 40k. Doubt that as the 90's went on a bit passed 91 (first year of the cows) that crowds were as healthy as they are know but as I have said before, i'm happy to be wrong if thats the case. Whose the stats man on here, spelly is it, I wonder if he could find out averages for us. Minor round of course. Gf's should always be well over 30k. Unless WWT are playing of course

I would think 4-5,000 at Elizabeth.

As a mater of fact most of the one's that were there with me do post on here, Barto for example. Of course i was underplaying the amount of actual Sturt supporters that were at games back then though i wouldn't be wrong when I say that at times it would have been as low as 300 with the other 700 or larger the mob we were playing.

I remember a day at Footy Park where it was just me and you in the CS. ******* embarrassing.

Every single club has fickle supporters. I'd challenge any other team to even survive let alone get decent crowds if they were as shitful as we were in the early 90s
It's all the SANFL's fault.

7-8 for Norwood friday night. Should get 10 but these days you never draw massive crowds.

I'm dragging at least 5 others along with me (mum n dad, 2 brothers + their handbags:D) we'll get some dinner on the parade somewhere then wander down to the Stade de Redleg and hopefully we'll find 8 or 9 thousand others and a Norwood team pumped up to beat the ferals and kickstart the year of the Redlegs! Sturt v Glenelg showed last year that with the right circumstances, it is very possible for the SANFL to draw a biggish crowd!
C'mon you Reds....Adelaide United = its just like watching Brasil!!!

I love both footy[NOT the V/AFL!] and soccer, is that even allowed??;)

I'm hoping to make it with quite a few other Sturt boys to the season opener at The Parade so there might be more than you think.
We'll see though coz that weekend I will be 1. Travelling to Melb for Carlton v Richmond (driving) 2. Travelling back after the missus has been shopping early friday morn 3.Hopefully get back in time for Norwood v Port 4. Sturt v Glenelg saturday, should be there for most of the day with regular trips across the road for cheaper booze. I love rd 1

All this wining and dining at the Parade must explain a few of the bigger night crowds at recent time ... At the start of the last quarter you can hear everyone on the hill saying "Thought there'd be plenty more than this here tonight" then by first whistle of the league it's chocca's!! :D
