From a South Adelaide supporters point of view,I am looking forward to seeing the team have a good run and try and put the pre seasons hard work into practice.
Keen to see how the new recruits fit into the side and to see where they might slot into the line up.
We have had two internal trials so far, these trials will be another step up as we head towards the first game of the season.
To be a better team this season we will need improvment across the board from last years side and an injection of talent from the recruits we have gained this season.
I dont think the result of this trial is of much concern. It is more about getting the team as balanced and prepared as possible for the season opener against the bloods.
BRING ON THE FOOTY!!

I'll be there and the biggest thing i'm looking for is a major improvement in tackling, especially in the forward line.
We've been lacking in forward crumbers for a long time and someone who can snatch it off Chambo's toes and kick 40 snags this season will see us improve greatly.
Also want to see our rucking system with the likes of Feasty not out there.

Not heading out to Elizabeth to watch your side take on the Doggies MT79 ???

The games start times have all had clauses in them subject to the weather situation. With 25 forecast for the weekend, one would assume that it would be reserves at 11.15am and league at 2pm, as per the normal start times in the season proper.

I do recall reading on here somewhere that there may also be a Southern League game as a curtain raiser to this so you may want to check with the South Adelaide Footy Club first Dutchy, or just check with Wedgie, I remember him posting something about it saying how he was looking forward to checking it out because it was his old local club or something like that.

Fair enough mate, I'm lucky that I'm within walking distance of Coopers Stadium so I have the luxury if being alble to waltz down and catch some neutral action when it's on.

Oh dear. Big Phil is your Co. listed on ASX? If so...

EVERYONE Big Phil will be driving his BIG CAR to every SANFL match this year on company $$. If you hang around post-match you will see him guzzling trillions of litres of high octane fuel doing burnouts in his ultra high performance sports car after every Centrals win (and there will be LOTS of those!). This will bleed the company dry. If you own those shares then SELL SELL SELL them to the Chinese..NOW!

A good hit out for both teams. Except for the opening 5-10 mins South won the first half, finding plenty of space through the midfield. The Panthers led 5-3 to 4-2 after a tight 2nd qtr. The wind went up a notch at half time and intensified again at 3/4 qtr time to be worth about 4-5 goals to the northern end. The third qtr was the Tristan Gum quarter as found plenty of space up forward to slam home 3 goals for the term. The Blues held a small lead at the final break which had evaporated after 7 mins of the last qtr. South got a couple of goals up with the use of the strong breeze, but Sturt pegged it back using a game of short passing into the wind, and hit the front with 5 mins to play. But South put themselves back in front 20 seconds later, kicked another to go 9pts up, before a late goal from the Double Blues.

Full time

South 12.3 (75)
Sturt 11.6 (72)

Interesting game really. Not much to take out of it as skills were pretty sloppy for the most part.
Tackling was good from both teams and I would have to say that South showed more run then us.
South seem to have alot of small nuggety types that can break tackles.
A few of our recruits looked good. Payne put his head over the ball a few times which we need as Madness is not there for that sort of stuff anymore.
Will be more interested to see how we go next week against the Legs.

A good run for both teams, not the most dazzling of games but there were some good pieces of play.
James Boyd got plenty of the ball and showed some class as did Peter Rolfe who looks in really good nick.
Young Tasmanian recruit Nick Makenna showed he could be a good pick up for us as a rebounding defender.
Some of the young blokes seem to have bulked up a bit in the preseason which can only be a better sign for us.
Looking forward to this weekends clash with the bays.
