Cuzzy, you seem to know about Encounter - I was told that you are losing Scott Brown for the better part of the season? Whats going on with your pre-season - rumour has it numbers are dwindling, only 13 on tuesday night... Without your locals pulling their fingers out then BJ has a great point - the quality of football will dwindle.

Its silly to think that the introduction of the points system wont effect the quality of the league! The real question is will the league/clubs be able to manage keeping/getting the quality back in place.....?

Victor should be the biggest improver in the league, Strath will stay steady but there is concern over their pea hearts and Compass may also drop of the pace - I hate to say it but I think the competition between 2nd and 10th will not be as close as predicted..

Hmmm dunno where your getting your info from vision, scott brown going away for half the year doubt it, also in regards to numbers we had enough out on tuesday night to have a internal trial in the second half of the session so that would be 32 blokes. If your getting your info from owen and raymond its probably wrong considering they walked off at the start of training. Last night we still had 25 blokes out in the heat and all of them were locals, no adelaide players as the coach and the adelaide players had a meeting in town with two other new recruits, so as far as locals pulling there fingers out i would say it is 10 times better than last year.

Who takes training when the coach is away Cuzzy?

I heard Victor may have gained the services of Darren Hart as assitant coach and also Tim Boyd as a player, anyone know of Tim Boyd?

The older brother of James (Boof) Boyd who finished runner/up in 2008's magarey medal, won the Knuckey Cup (South's best and fairest 2008) an under 17 SANFL medal and also a reserves Magarey. Tim was runner for the south league side in 2008 and has had 2 knee reconstructions but could play, as good or if not, better than little boof..Correct information??? Didn't think he'd consider playing again.

Good work Damian, he must be playing at Victor now if he was a league runner last year you would say his fitness would be pretty good its just a case of those knee recons. How old would he be? My guess is he is a 0 point player also.

Tim Boyd is a top lad and would be a handy acqusition. Fit as anyone and hard at the ball. I think hes done his knee 4 times in the past 4 attempts at a preseason!!! Was there in 07 when he did it for the last time and was so inconspicuous he just turned the other way and it went on him again.

Hope for Tims sake his knees hold up and he plays a big part in Victors year if hes playin there!

Team work
Tim is currently at South and doing all the work required. He will be playing in the internal tonight at SA.

Tim is also a Shoe boy and we have kept in touch with Tim and will be VERY surprised if he does not pull on a Shoe's jumper if all doesnt go his way at SA.

apart from Scmidt and old timer Hot Dog's, they seem to have held most players and are apparently training the house down with good numbers

Hot Dog is only 32 but the bloke wouldn't run out of sight in a dark alley!!!!!!!!!

I would suggest Boyd would be 0 point player as he hasn't played a game in a few years that i know off. He would be around 24??? But as Shoey suggested a Noarlunga boy and before he and his family got really involved in South they were as passionate as anyone about their Shoey's. Hope to see him in the South League side dominating with his brother!!!

I did hear he was going to go into umpiring. It should be good as he has not been out of the game and should understand the way the game is alot better than some of the others. He has been seen running alot and looking pretty fit, not sure he would take abuse too well that yellow card could be used a bit!!

I think you might have heard right, great for the game! Will be a top umpire, one that knows the game doesn't revolve around him and has good experience already!

So, How is the situation with the Umpires this year?
I have heard that they are coping well with the trial games that have been booked so are things as rosy as they appear?

From what I've heard they've picked up quite a few new recruits and they are confident that every grade and every ground will have proper umpires. The last couple of seasons have seen about half the B Grade games umpired supplied by the competing clubs.

I'm beginning to think your one who likes to stretch the truth.... I was at the bay oval on tuesday night looking for the big man Allan Swaine for a purpose away from footy - I imagine he was hiding along with the other 30 players you speak of..... Must of been solid internal trial (on a tuesday night...) with 20 of the 32 rotating on to the oval from a hidden change room....

Teamwork on the money with this one.
Tim has signed with Victor but doesnt expect to play any games as he is set on playing with James at SA. He tells us 6 mates have signed with Victor and the current coach is also a friend.

We are very disapointed but we wish Tim all the best for the coming season.

Compass may well be around the mark if strath have lost the amount of players mentioned but I still like the look of the roos and the feel on the track seems more enthusiastic than recent times.
For those that are wandering, expect Dale Ellis to play enough games to qualify for finals - he is not keen on playing footy at all at this stage but considering the circumstances....

i was told that sam j and pitto had had their clearences denied by morphett vale i checked the gsfl web site and they are not listed as cleared only that they had lodged, i didnt think there was anything a club from a different league could do to stop players going, unless they were unfinancial, but considering they would have been payed players even it was only base payments this surely would have been enough to pay there fees, does anyone know the rules regarding this??
