REB

Obviously have not played too well in recent week but top 2 finish still positions the side well for a final assault, I'm sure you would not mind if your Cats were in a similar position....

Leg speed for the crows concerns me and I don't think Craigy is in coaching form at the moment..

The Club needs to get back to playing players in the positions they play their best football....

Bock and Rutten are not natural forwards, keep them both at CHB and FB....

CHF is a concern, either Perrie or McGregor need to play this role,

Van Berlo needs to play either Wing or HB, do not start him in the Centre Square and I am not sure why Roo started on the bench

We need to find some leg speed, with Skippy out lets have a look at Douglas

Stoppages, getting smashed, I would punt on Hudson, last year he was in the top 3 for the league for clearances, Clarke's first half was good by faded dramatically, it's time for a change....

No panic yet but with two home games before finals it's time to get back on track

S/DOG no panic........
Adelaide got beaten by a team that played in the tropics last week,
a team that had half a dozen regulars sidelined for the season and a
side that is leg weary in recent weeks from playing on a shit home ground.
Maybe no panic, but definite concerns in my views.
Its time for the 10 no name fringe players to support either a weary old
midfield, or an old midfield that has scaled down before making a more
definite and concerted effort in the finals.
Craig may have overtrained them or scaled the Crows down, but now
its time for the team to respond.

Mal

I agree it is time to respond

Every club this year has had a flat spot, West Coast did mid season, Crows now, everyone was talking Sydney up and they failed again, St Kilda have concerns with their Back line and Ruck, Collingwood looked ordinary and the Demons are struggling, Freo is on fire but has no finals experience so the comp is very wide open......

The crows current woes can be fixed, my belief is it's to do with their structure, today Craigy started Roo on the bench, Rutten and Bock up forward and Van Berlo in the centre square and he did not tag West who picked up 40+ touches, so Craigy is not in good coaching form...

Lets get players back where they play their best footy and lets pick some natural forwards not defenders that turn forwards......

Hudson needs to come in for Clarke, Bock or McGregor to CHB and Stevens out, McGregor and Welsh start out the square and Perrie and Hentchel across HF, Roo swapping with Thompson across HF and Mattner across the Centre line instead of HB and Bassett to replace Massie (who has had a poor month).......

Legspeed running through the lines is a concern and knights and douglas may be options come finals......

Players that are under the pump, Skippy did a hammy today, Doughty, Clarke, Thompson, Massie, and Stevens

This side will turn it around

Yeah....

It's interesting though, this time of year when top teams place is secure you do see upsets..

In the NRL this week both the storm and bulldogs who are top 2 by a mile got beaten by struggling sides......

The Crows have been waiting for the finals for 4 weeks now, with 2 weeks to go, lets settle down the structure, get a bit of confidence and hit the first final running....... NO PANIC BUTTONS HERE

Went to the game and watched it with McAlmanac and met Leaping Lindner after the game which was good.
To me it just seemed like the Crows made too many mistakes and consequently got exposed a few times in their setup when the ball went the other way.
I am certainly not in panic mode either, we'll see what happens in 3 weeks time.

It was good to meet you as well ORDB. Funnily enough I just couldn't get excited about this game all week. Even the fact that we were at the MCG for the first time this year and I was going to see the team live etc etc. Even when I was on my way to the ground yesterday I was very nonchalant about it and that's not like me at all. I just wonder if the players feel a little the same way and (like myself and others) are looking forward to September rather than thinking about August.
And they played like shit :P

You make some good point there S-Dog, my concern is that ATM we are not a settled side. Injuries and form mean that players are coming in and out of this side and our best set up/structure is not currently being employed.

A big two weeks for us, the intense training phase will be finished now and a modified taper coming into the finals will be introduced to insure the palyers are fresh and cherry ripe for the 1st final at Footy Park.

Concerned about the form of Reilly and Thompson

The miles into the legs that some of the players have had put into there legs in the last few weeks should pay off over the next six weeks.

Needs to start this week with a good win against our little brother.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

1980 Tassie Medalist

In regards to Thompson and Rielly, thought Reilly was good against Freo but quiet yesterday, Thompson has been disappointing all season, maybe he needs to play more across HF then the Midfield

Another advantage for the crows, is we now have at leat our next three games at AAMI, next four if we win the 1st final, Craigy has a wonderful platform to have these guys fresh and settled with no travel requirements

Looking at the Eagles they will be hoping they do not meet freo in the first final, this would neutralise their home ground advantage, while Adelaide could very well play Melbourne twice in two weeks, last rnd and first final

this would be my side for the next couple of weeks, given that all are available for selection

F HENTCHELL WELSH BODE
HF ROO PERRIE THOMPSON
C MATTNER SHIRLEY RIELLY
HB STIFFY MCGREGOR MACCA
B BASSETT RUTTEN HART
IR BIGLANDS EDWARDS GOODWIN
INT HUDSON BOCK VAN BERLO DOUGHTY

Clarke, Torney, Massie, Stevens are all out of my best side and Knights to be knocking on the door

Need to get back to playing our best and most natural forwards and pick players in positions were they play there best footy, McGregor at CHB, Mattner to give us more run thru the midfield, while both Roo and Thompson can play tall or small across HF and swap with the likes of Edwards and Goody in the midfield.....

S/DOG Adelaide has to find a formula to beat West Coast
in this finals campaign.
I have no spot for BOCK/WELSH/HUDSON they are all underdone
in fitness and would be risky propostions.
Playing underdone players in recent weeks equated to
losing some games?
I would play anyone who has pace /endurance
MASSIE and KNIGHTS to play for those reasons.
It might be too late to blood DOUGLAS.
BURTONS injury is a big loss for the above reasons.

If they play off with West Coast i hope it rains........

S/DOG Andrew Jarman and Chris Mcdemott have both reiterated
my point about playing unfit/underdone footballers in the press.
Mcdemott is concerned about leg power.
Jars named Hart/Bock/Welsh as underdone.
No panic but genunie concerns buddy.

Good to hear Perrie had a solid game for North at the weekend, while Knights picked up 40 touches for the Eagles.

Didnt get a chance to listen to the game, but we will swing it back our way soon enough. Top 2 finish is as good as you can get. Key is to win the first final rather than dropping it like last year!

MAL

I think Welsh isn't lookin too bady, adjusting to the pace of the game "yes", underdone, not in my view......

Two more games should see welsh cherry ripe for the finals, like burton he has the x factor, he is the crows most natural forward and will play better along side two talls such as Perrie and Hentshel or McGregor and Hentchel.... and his forward line pressure is outstanding....

I have no doubt if tou ask opposition coaches they would rather see Welsh out of the side.....

I would have Bock in front of Stevens, Bock gives the side flexibility and can play forward or back, as stated before, Stevens worries me in the one on one body contest, he gets out-marked too often and finals footy will be less free-flowing and more one on one contests

Your right Huddo may be underdone, lets face it Clarke is only playing 10 minute 1/4's, the Crows need his big body and second efforts around the stoppages and I think his presence will lift the side

Knights would get a game in my side, but Hart is struggling, he is making some poor errors and has all year, Massie, I am a fan but his form has tappered off, but one concern for me is Hart, Bassett and Massie in the same side, there all the same type of player, the hound dog is a definite when fit and I would think Craigy would go for Hart in fromnt of Massie, for his leadership and experience

Lets face it, all clubs are carrying players this time of year

Sorry

In regards to blooding Douglas,

1. He has played senior footy all year for the Bay so lets see if the kid can step up now and not wait to finals

2. Port has blodded some kids in recent weeks and these kids are firing

I get the feeling that AC will fire this week.

We now know why Craig plays the big flood, when they
dont they are exposed for pace and quite frankly when our
defenders play one on one they are exposed.

Expect the flood!
