Renovations going over time by 8 weeks didn't help either.

Footballers club income back up to pre-renovations levels according to anecdotal reports. Stupid me thought I could rock up on a Thursday night to the Bistro and get a feed six weeks ago. Nup booked out.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

hopefully just a bump in the road mainly due to the reno's, now the capital has been spent it will reap the dividends....also a good reminder that you cannot rely on Pokie revenue, need a number of revenue streams these days

i think the club should get a tab & sky channel in their i'll boost the turnover as will a few others i know, off course that wont happen because of what DID HAPPEN when we had the tab in the mid 90's, people don't believe the story of it didn't pay to have it

Doesn't Sky Channel come with the basic Sports package the club has with FOX??

Only issue I have with the club and 7 others is you can't drink a decent beer there, only a few weeks ago I went there quite willing to put a few buck through the pokies and enjoy the outdoor part only to realise they didn't have Coopers.
I packed up and went across the road to the Holdy.
Just makes me wonder how much money 8 SANFL clubs could be losing in total because of this.
I certainly wont read much into Glenelg's loss because of the great renovations they've done which wouldn't be cheap but I only wonder how much worse it might have been in a poor year on field.

I dont see on field success having the same impact on SANFL sides as on AFL sides. A big year of merchandise in the AFL could be in the $100k's in the SANFL it IMO would not have the same sort of impact. All relative I know.

1980tm, sky channel & sky racing (fox) 2 different things even though it is the same program these days, i am certain that pubs & clubs can not show sky racing (fox) they have to show sky channel. this is correct unless they've changed the rules in the last couple of years, as for the sports package i doubt it given the above reasons

Fair to say as a Glenelg supporter that is a thought to terrible to contemplate - it would be up to the amount that some of our neighbouring clubs are rumoured to have lost.

Thank goodness our home matchday income is way up on previous years.

Dont forget that the $$$ spent on the renovations no way impacts the Profit and Loss directly. However cause of the renovations the Income was significantly down.

After some further reading -

> Pokie Revenue down $478k (27%)
> Bar receipts up $260k (42%)

So it shows that a successful season and the new clubrooms provided increased bar sales, as long as this can be maintained and Pokie revenue is increased things will be good.

Overall the balance sheet is sound with little debt

I think we operated for nigh on six months with only 25 machines instead of 40. So getting the volume of machines up is going to help with revenue from pokies in 2009

Losing ? Nothing. Coopers is shit. Would much rather a Heinikin or a James Squire Amber Ale.

The money & benefits that the club get from West End would outweigh having a Cooper keg on tap.....
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

Agreed currently pints of WE Draught are $4.05 with your membership card. Last couple of Saturdays have spent about an hour at the club in the open area in front of the stand with a couple of quiet ones, watchng the cricket whilst the kids run around the grand stands, snouts hill and the concourse...

Sensational set up we have there at the minute

This would suggest that the lack of Coopers is not a problem  Not enough people putting their hard earned into the pokies.

The club wont get a TAB license because there are 2 TAB operators across the road.

The 8 clubs that don't have Coopers only because of the League sponsers of West End, while Norwood has Coopers as majpr sponsers, but you knew that many years ago didn't you.
