Who will be the most valuable Eagles recruit

Postby eaglehaslanded » Mon Jan 19, 2009 7:52 pm

Looking at the list of either confirmed or rumoured ins for the Eagles this season has prompted me to think which player could be the most valuable recruit.

Everyone will have to vote again, cause I've taken him out of the poll thanks to the news he is only going to be a runner this year.

Would have rather seen him playing again, but I don't think he would have the impact he had.

Jay Cheep for me looks to be a good player that should do well in the SANFL. Can you even count McGregor as a recruit he played half of last year with the eagles didn't he. I also like the way that Westbrook plays i know Rehn nearly got him to the bloods a few years back but he stayed at the eagles instead.

Can't believe we have a post on this.
Anyway I went with Cheep as we need help BIG time in the middle.

I don't count McGregor as a recruit, and Biglands well who knows if he will even play????

I want the club to announce a few more quality recruits. Quality over Quantity, eg Centrals.

Where has all the money gone that was set aside to sign Skippy. Hopefully spent on some quality midfielders.

Yes mate , you make an excellent point about our midfield against the top couple of sides needing help BIG TIME . But my vote isnt in the list , yet I have an idea his promotion could have the biggest impact of all if we are to get back as a force this year . Mark Jeffries will make or break some of our midfield possibilities with expectation & intensity , his way , & maybe have a success like MacGowan did in 06 . Our pressure & tackling that year really stood out & has been sorely missing since MacGowan & Norman left ! Coincidence ? What do you think ? ......... We look to be loaded with forward possibilities , but do we have enough constant midfield threats to take advantage when playing the top teams . Can the coaches work the midfield rotations & allow McKenzie & Cicca to quarterback our gamestyle from the halfback line ? Answer ....... yes ... if those midfielders operate at a high level for 4 quarters !

Normally you seem to be full of rubbish Holden 78 (see other Eagle topics re new faces ;) ).I tend to think Mark Jeffries is being groomed for the top spot after Ron decides he has had enough .BUT to quote CD thats a personal post only and I could be way off the mark!!!(no pun intended)

I believe he was described as a good average VFL Player on the VFL forum a few months back :-k Makes one think what were the Gowans twins thought of when they were at their first Centrals preseason training.

If he turns in to be a Biagi some one in recruiting will need to fall on his or her sword !!!

Perhaps a bit harsh there bayman - don't think biag ever really adjusted to being in adelaide and was keen to get home, possible that may have affected his footy...

BTW, how's Tommy Couch going at Glenelg?

CG I understand Biagi disappeared to a suburban local club in melbourne when he left Adelaide .this year he could be back in the vfl
Biagi was a very expensive lesson for WWT.
