Have to give credit to Flipper and the Turf this year. They are actually showing common sense and doing a great job. They've even managed to assemble the strongest side possible for the CUSA cup. Other than the changing of websites everything has run very smoothly and even the website issues were not really the fault of the Turf.

Below is part of an email Flipper sent out to the club secretaries calling for expressions of interest. As for the clubs and the standard of the competition that is an unknown at this point but generally in the past its been of a good standard.

Following approval from the ATCA Board of Management at its recent meeting I can confirm support for the ATCA 20/20 competition 2008/09.

The competition will comprise 32 teams (ATCA preference is to have as many of the A grade clubs involved as possible). These 32 teams are to be divided into 2 zones (north and south) of 16 teams, within these zones there will be 4 groups of four teams.

Each team will play 3 home and away matches against the other teams in its group, these matches are scheduled for Tuesday evenings 13 January, 27 January and 10 February 2009. The top two teams from each zone (north and south) will proceed to the Super Sunday Triple Header on 1 March, which will see the two semi finals played followed by the Grand Final of the competition.

I will be providing more detailed playing conditions, finalised groups , playing draw etc as we move closer to the competition, but at this stage I am seeking nominations from clubs interested in taking part in the competition.

It would be useful to have a bit more info at this stage since game 1 is a week away today (assuming we go ahead on time).
Will grounds be ready?

According to the ATCA website the schedule and playing conditions will be released today. The groups and divisions were posted on the website yesterday.

Not sure about Unley but you'd think 2 of the 6 Div 1 sides will go through from the South group.

well surley they would be the strongest in there group? but they may struggle against A1 sides, it will be interesting to compare teams from different divs. Do you think most teams will be close to full strength?

I am sure work commitments etc will cause a bit of havoc with selections but I think most hsould be ok to play their full teams.

SHOC I gotta feeling are better than Unley in that group, they have a good history in 20/20 I think and lots of big hitters.

I would suggest not, given games starting at 5. Also wouldnt think that Unley would be sure things to knock off Shoc or Marion in there group.
