Good luck to Maxwell, I think he'll go alright.

maxwell would not walk into every other team's side. I think every captain in the AFL wouldwalk into every other side bar Maxwell. Yes he may be a great leader as the pies hierachy think so, but he is not that good at playing the game. He may have great leadership qualities but he still needs to be able to be agood player.. my choice or the collingwood captaincy woulda been tarkyn lockyer, i think he is a quality player and also a good leader

Will be interesting to see how Maxwell will go. A lot of people who are not Collingwood supporters bag him and don't rate him.
I think he could be a very good leader. I do agree about Tarks could of been given the gig too, but who knows how many years he has left.

Who else would you select? Fraser? Personally dont rate him. Pendlebury? Too young IMO. Who else is there?

Very hard to judge captains as many people dont know how many leadership qualities these players actually have.

Pup you make very good points here. Fraser too inconsistant and injury prone. Pendlebury will be captain one day.
The only other one could of been Tarks!

Yes..... As a Collingwood supporter I don't have much faith we will go deep into September in 2009. But, like every year, fingers crossed! I may have gone with Travis Cloke, young I know, but he might grab it by the balls and skyrocket his career (once he gets his goalkicking right).

Good call emerson- carey like!
Maxwell, Newman and Cassissi (if he gets the power job) would struggle to make most sides.

Maxwell is a better player than he showed last year, in 2007 he was a pivotal player for them ... I might have been tempted to take a punt with Pendlebury as IMHO the kid will have a long and distinguished career, but Maxwell's a fair call for them IMHO.

I think newman and cassisi would make all other sides. IMO they are really good valuable team players and also have the ability to take the game by the balls them selves. Cassisi provides so much to the power midfield, he allows cornes a break, a chance to get the ball himself and for him to be so good (obviously not all his work tho). Newman is an out an out gun small defender who penetrates the lines with his kicks and can go into the midfield and play a role there...

maxwell i think is courageous and has his good games, obviously a good leader but i dont think he plays good enough football himself or consistently to be named captain, but thats IMO

I know what it means! What I'm saying is, why state the obvious? Forums are for the sole purpose of stating your opinions, honest (actually I think it's humble?) or otherwise! So, IMO this is my opinion! Pet hate, that's all.

You make a pretty fair point ... I think people put in IMO's because you get the odd punter confusing a posters opinion with the poster claiming something as factual.

Anyway, good luck to Maxwell this year ;)

I'm sensing Collingwood will use the No. 5 guernsey for the Capitan from now on like No. 17 for Richmond and No. 1 for Port

yeh, i rekon they probably would have made Burns wear it if it wasnt going to be his last season. but it would be nice to see. Bucks deserves it.
