I had forgotten about him thanks WHUFC I wonder if signing Jay Cheep also ex geelong may go in our favour.

It may well help but i do know he did sign for Central last season but pulled out just before pre-season started due to family reasons, i also know that him and Travis Varcoe have became close mates as they live on the same street and have the same friendship circle, despite never playing in the same team together.

so in other words Centrals will get him before we do.

Im not so sure alot will depend on whether we get Sansbury, Obst and Ryan Williams. If those three became available i don't think we would also get Urie.

Plus i don't know what the Eagles or the Dogs have or can offer him. I have never met Chris Urie so i don't know if his the kind of player to be chasing money or so forth.

And in all honestly i think he would benefit more by going to the Eagles because i think he would be guarenteed to be in there best 21 and im not so sure that would be the same at Centrals (no disrespect intended towards the eagles.)[/quote]

None Taken WHUFC .I really think the Eagles can do with as many quality mid fielder's as they can get .Then some small forwards and some backs and maybe a young ruckman ;)

It seems to me that we've only got one player (for sure) who sounds decent, while other clubs are being more active again.

Pre Christmas training winds up tomorrow night (Thursday) and the boys are looking particularly fit.

Please check out details on the club website re new trading hours at Woodville Oval facility. There is an open letter to all members from our CEO on the site to give members more info. Also check out the details re the AGM and the call for nominations to the board.

Was good to see Jay Cheep from Geelong at training looking very fit and ready to go. Jay is delighted to be here and is looking forward to playing in 2009 for the Eagles.

A couple of big lads are training with us from our local zone clubs and do look the goods.
Plus Rhett 'Biggles' is also looking very good.

Local draft is Monday and with pick 4 I'm sure our football dept will be looking very closely at the talent coming into SA via the AFL teams.

To all SA footy folk my personal best wishes and compliments of the season.

From all at the Eagles to our wonderfully loyal and passionate members and supporters have a safe and happy holiday/Christmas break.

With Skipworth at Essendon i would now expect to the Eagles to be the major player in this deal.

The Eagles should be trying to get westie back , interesting to hear abt their new game plan they have finally woken up that plan A is really plan D . They say they have got enough talls , also interesting that they dont rate Luke Mcentee and its no good getting him because he will struggle to make the B grade team

FROM THE CLUB'S WEBSITE - SANFL MINI DRAFT

The SANFL Mini Draft was conducted today with the Eagles in the unfamiliar position of having 2 selections at numbers 4 and 13.

Our first selection was used to take Mitch Banner from the Power.

Banner was selected at pick 42 in the National Draft and is described by the AFL website as a "Small Midfielder who wins his own ball and has good disposal by hand and foot. He is a high possession winner who is good overhead for his size. A Vic Metro U18 representative in 2008, his game against WA in the deciding match showed his outstanding abilities playing through the midfield. Illness prevented him from completing the physical tests at the Draft Camp. From Werribee Junior FC."

Eagles coach Ron Fuller said "we are delighted to have secured Mitch with our selection in the SANFL Mini Draft, we believe that he will compliment our on-ball brigade whilst not on duty with the Power."

The Club's second selection was used to secure Sam Martyn, a NSW Scholarship player from the Crows.

Although unlikely to play in Adelaide in 2009, Sam will represent the Eagles should he make the trip to Adelaide in the future.

The Eagles welcome both of these players to the Club and looks forward to watching their development in Season 2009.

Also check out the website for news and views from our CEO.
