I'm Confused re Norwood, South and Glenelg???

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby Wedgie » Sun Jul 30, 2006 7:50 pm

I'm even more confused after today, Ill try and put some sensible thoughts into this topic later but I can safely say Port are added to the mix now.
4 sides battling for 2 spots in the finals, what a ripper of a comp we all follow!

As said above I'm even more confused today.
I think when I worked out my opinion of South, Glenelg and Norwood all finishing on the same amount of points I used the thinking that Port would win today and North would win yesterday.

What's happened as a result of this weekend?

2 things IMHO.

Port are now thrown into the mix and could easily miss out on the Top 5 if they don't get their arse into gear, my original thoughts had Port one spot in front of the Bays, South and Norwood but that's been thrown out the door today.

South are gone IMHO, I rate them and have rated them all year but with Glenelg and Norwood both winning this weekend they're in the box seat well in front of South. If South pull off an upset or 2 I'll re-rate my opinions.

Only one thing is positive, that is that its going to be a very exciting race into the finals.
Top spot is up for grabs, top three may even be up for grabs if Centrals don't win each week and the Top 5 spots are definately up for grabs.
What a competition it is!

Port are gone  Bring back Matthew Nights.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

Wedge Man, spot on, Glenelg can finish anywhere from 3rd to 7th ATM, depending on what frame of mind we turn up in each week.

This season/ finals race has a few more twists and turns in it yet. The only thing I will say is,

How many people who picked Glenelg to come last still think that??????

Dash61 where are you??? You started that thread, pick your top 5, MM, KFM & spooner......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Agreed mate, if there's 2 twists in one weekend I didn't expect WTF is going to happen in 6 weeks of footy?

I've said it before and I'll say it again I have no idea.

Yes I did pick the Bays to win the spoon this year.

I said it today and I've said it before this year, when the Bays play their best footy at Glenelg Oval its actually the best footy in the league to watch IMHO.
North play a very attacking handball happy style of game but I really enjoy the Bays direct long kicking style of footy, its great to watch.

Good luck to the Bays, Mickan's doing a top job.

Perhaps we (Port) should go with Higgins or Trigg ;)

Don't get ahead of yourself their Punk, we aren't even guaranteed to make the finals, mate, but as a betting man I'm sure you'll agree the odds are in our favour when it comes to Norf v Yabs GFs (apologies to REB for using his terms)

wedgie, you reckon you are confused, try being a panther supporter....! :?
it looks like yhis season has just about passed us by, again. At least you can say we are consistent, in that we go ok and then turn it up about this time every year. That is unless we can pull something out of the bag against the eagles next Sunday.
As for recent developments re the salary cap I am a little miffed by it all. I can say that I am very disappointed in the club for breaking the rules and especially getting caught.(thanks to a past player-)But I am probably more disappointed that the actions of the club in breaking the salary cap resulted in absolutely zilch. I mean if you are going to stick your neck out there has to be some potentially huge reward on the end of it. We all know what the reward is but we didnt even get f--- close!
The fine, which is 50k,many say will be found after a day or twos pokie revenue. Probably true, but the fact of the matter is that after all is said and done the SAFC is 50k down the tube with f-- all to show for it. Some would say a very poor investment. That 50k may have been better spent on juniors or on upgrading the facilities at Noarlunga.
As a long time member and supporter, and I will continue to be, I hope that the people who are responsible for this gross error of judgement are brought to account.

Excellent post straight from the heart blueandwhite, as mediocre as my club has been in the last decade I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be a Panther supporter, well maybe I could as I follow Geelong in the AFL! (not too closely though as I was at the Bay today instead of watching AFL crap on TV).

It couldn't have been a worse weekend of results for Panther fans.
Good luck though, I've rated the Panther's list all year and there's no reason they couldn't put a few wins together to turn the finals race on its ear yet again, I think its going to be a topsy turvy race right through to the end of Rd 23. Let's all be proud of the fantastic comp we all follow and how good it is this year!

Dutchy, you lucky bastard, it would have been a top day in the cricketers club, with all the old Legends watching us give out an all too infrequent hiding to those infedels.....

The world is a better place when we beat Port.

All I can say is as an Adelaide Football Club member is I can stand it when they lose, it doesn't really bother me, but when Glenelg lose, especially to Port, tell the missus to lock up the cat, because it is going to get a kicking.....it shits me when we lose.

this week is going to be bewdiful!!!

Back in your box there Tiger!!!, weve only beaten the spooners and Port, You've knocked off North (away) and Centrals, it is on your dunghill where we always play shite (remember 2004 when we had one goal in mind).

At the minute thay have us both at $1.80, you are big overs.....

If anyone should be talked up it is your mob......

I would think the Bays would be favourites this week, that's not trying to understate my own mob, but I find the Bays a difficult matchup ... Given the results of the last 3 years - 2 Norwood wins (1 by a kick) vs 5 Bays win (significantly a thumping at the Bay this year and comfortable win at the Parade around this time last year), I think they will be very difficult to beat.

IF we can play with the same intensity and confidence we saw against North on the weekend, then I'm sure we will be right in the contest, perhaps then will come down to which team better takes the oportunities that will no doubt present!

As I said on the gambling forum it's probably going to be based purely on the conditions.
If its wet Norwood will win.
If its dry Glenelg will win.

If its in between the game is up for grabs.
